26: Carly Hicks - you're not limited by your major, you're limited by your mindset / How to leverage your background (college major/first jobs) to get a job in a new industry

Have you ever thought, "I mean, I'd love to get a job in the entertainment industry, but I majored in business - I don't have the qualifications or the connections to pull that off."

I hear assumptions and defeating statements like that ALL TOO OFTEN, so I figured it was time to bring on the poster-child for defying conventions and busting into a new industry: my friend, Carly Hicks.

Carly decided to LEVERAGE her business major instead of feeling limited by it once she realized she wasn't interested in the traditional business jobs and wanted to pursue a career in film instead. Now she's all the better for it as her boldness and perseverance landed her in her current position as a Page for NBCUniversal in New York City.
