How many wars are going on now? 350 wars in the war (27 live conflicts); dominant, alive, and active; different definitions of war; skirmish, battles but bottom-line people killed. 130 million people throughout the world are now victims in a war they never started or are responsible for. Global arms business is over $600 billion; to feed the world $10 billion to $300 billion
Douglas Broderick worked for WFP in Eritrea, former Yugoslavia, Armenia, DPRK, China, and Bangladesh. He was Country Director in Armenia, China, DPRK and Bangladesh. His WFP temporary duty assignments included Djibouti for the Somalia crisis; Rwanda for the post genocide in 1994 and the Philippines. He was seconded to UNDP and served as UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Cambodia and Indonesia.
Before WFP, he worked for 9 years for Catholic Relief Services in the Middle East, Asia, and Baltimore. He served in the UN as a referendum observer; supported set-up of WFP alumni chapters; worked on UN reform initiatives; consulted on humanitarian reform; created country strategic plans; and advised on emergency interventions.
