29. Serendipity, Sacrifice, + False Summits: A Candid Chat with Lindsey Epperly

Listen Later

Whether you're a college student walking to class aspiring to be an entrepreneur, a mama-preneur pushing a stroller while working from her phone, or a family wondering what it's like to operate fully in the entrepreneurial space and go into business with your spouse, this episode is for you.

Welcome to another episode of the Your Brand of Beautiful Podcast — the place where we chat with women who have created their own unique version of a beautiful life, in hopes that their story might inspire others to do the same. This week, you’re in for a real raw, candid conversation with Lindsey Epperly!

If you’re a listener from back when I owned a travel company, you might already know who Lindsey Epperly is… but if you’re unfamiliar, she is the founder and Chairwoman of Jetset World Travel, a travel agency she grew from a one-woman operation into a team of 100.

Lindsey was a mentor of mine, and someone who I deeply admire. And not just because of her fancy titles like earning two consecutive spots on the Inc. 5000 List of fastest-growing companies or being named to the Forbes Next 1000 List, but because she’s a servant leader, a mamaprenuer, and a champion of anyone in the small business space.

In our very candid chat today we’re covering a lot of ground: from serendipity in life, sacrifice in business, and the false summits that as Lindsey put it, are sometimes what shows us what we’re truly meant for.

In this conversation we’re chatting about:

  • The way health issues manifest in our body during times of stress or sacrifice
  • How motherhood shapes growth and evolution of entrepreneurship as women in business
  • And how to know if it’s time to make a transition in life, career, business, and more.

My favorite part of this conversation (and what might be the cause of an emotional hangover) is when Lindsey — for the first time — shared with me her side of the story, as my mentor, when I decided to sell my travel company.

Tune in and get ready to take notes from my friend, Lindsey Epperly!
