Paige's week!

This week Paige discusses the folklore of changelings. Most commonly associated with Irish folklore, this creature has featured throughout European fables. Changeling refers to a fairy who has been left in place of a human adult or child who had been essentially kidnapped by the fairies. We discuss the motivations the fairies had to kidnap and what to do if you think a loved one has been replaced with a fairy. Lastly, we discuss 2 instances where fairies have been brought into true crime cases.

Payton's week!

We discuss the 1981 unsolved quadruple homicide in Keddie, CA. Sue Sharp, her son Johnny Sharp, and his friend Dana Wingate were brutally murdered in cabin #28, but Sue's 2 youngest boys and their friend Justin who were in a bedroom unharmed, and her daughter Tina Sharp missing from the scene. It wasn't until 3 years later that Tina's remains were discovered almost 100 miles away in Butte County. It's a very gruesome case, with the initial investigation making no arrests. The cold case has been revived after 40 years without answers.New investigators are getting closer to possible arrests and answers.

Paige's week!

Paige brings us the case of the Cleveland Torso Murders, known as the Cleveland Torso Murderer or the Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run. Right smack dab in the middle of the Great Depression, police in Cleveland, Ohio, found 13 different dismembered bodies. Most of them are unidentified to this day. The investigation, or investigations, by two separate detectives concluded in different findings and suspects, with no official arrests. Many people think there were more victims of this serial killer, and many believe that these murders are not the result of a singular killer. It has been over 80 years since the last killing that was contributed to the Cleveland Torso Murderer.

Payton's week!

This episode is kind of wild.  We discuss Mitchell Sims and Ruby Padgett. They went on a crime spree for 3 weeks before getting caught in 1985. Mitch was a disgruntled former Domino's employee who decided to take his revenge by robbing two Domino's Pizza restaurants and ultimately  murdered 3 men in the process. Ruby may or may not have been involved in the first robbery, but was definitely involved in the second. We discuss their sentencing and their time behind bars since then.

We pick up where we left off in part one at the last hospital that Charles worked at. We discuss the difficulties the investigators had with the investigation and how a badass nurse named Amy was integral in taking down this angel of death.  There was a blanket plea over all counties and both states to where there was no trial, but Charles is spending the rest of his life behind bars.

Paige's week! 

Charles Edmund Cullen was an "Angel of Death." He was a nurse who preyed on vulnerable people in the hospitals where he worked for a total of 16 years. We discuss his childhood and the trials that came with adolescence. We talk about the events of his stint in the navy. We go into his marriage, and go through the 9 different hospitals where he worked and the different drugs that he used to kill his victims.

This week Paige couldn't join us so Payton has her friend Kim as our special guest this week!

Kim brings us the story of the Winchester Mystery House. Sarah Winchester the widow of William Winchester, the soul heir to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, moved to San Jose, California and started construction on the home which she bought after her husbands death. The construction lasted until Sarah's death in the 1920's, and from there the enormous house has become a historical landmark where you can now tour the property. We go into the possible reasons for the strange layout of the house and all the characteristics.

Paige's week!

This week we travel back to France for a man name Henri Désiré Landru. A French serial killer who is thought to have killed 11 people. 
Nicknamed the Bluebeard of Gambais, Henri was a conman who would swindle people out of their possessions and fortunes. He eventually went to conning widowed women and somehow getting their assets. Some of these women went missing without a trace. Later when Henri was arrested, police searched his home and managed to find bone fragments in his stove, which is thought to have been from these missing women.

Payton's week! 

This week Payton brings us the story of Helen Duncan. Helen was a well known medium in Scotland during a time when spiritualism thrived. Although opinion on her abilities varied, Helen was a target of the Royal Navy, and actually sent to jail under the Witchcraft Act of 1735. Helen was one of the last people tried as a witch and her trial was a huge contributor to the law being repealed.

Today Paige takes us on a journey around the world and talks about a little bit of nightmare fuel: dolls. 
We go to Mexico City to the Isla de las Muñecas, the most famous site known for its dolls. It began with a man named Don Julian Santana Barrera, claiming that a little girls spirit haunted the island.
Next we arrive in Japan in Nagoro Village, or better known as Nagoro Doll/Scarecrow Village, where a woman named Tsukimi Ayano has made many dolls in honor of the people of her community.
We come back to the US to Key West, Florida. Here a museum is the current home of a cursed little guy by the name of Robert the Doll. Robert was giving to a little boy by the name of Eugene Robert Otto in the early 1900s by a servant with questionable motives.
Then we end our journey on the East Coast to a badass woman named Frances Glessner Lee, who began the Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death with Harvard University. Frances loved Sherlock Holmes and was all about the little details. She made composite recreated crime scenes. She made crime scene dioramas, which are still in use today!
