    TESTO TRASCRITTO [English below]
- "No, noi queste cose non le facciamo, deve andare all'ufficio postale."

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Great happiness yesterday because I received a letter from my friend Laura from Melbourne, a letter that took four months to reach me, but we don't get discouraged, I immediately started to answer and since I know that these things, or you do them immediately or years pass again, to be added to the months it takes the letter to arrive from Melbourne to Cagliari and vice versa, this morning I had already finished my letter. Mindful of what happened the last time I tried to send a letter to Australia, maybe I already talked about it in one of my previous podcasts, in the sense that they didn't know how much was the postage, in short, it was so complicated that I bought some stamps and also brought home a couple of customs slips so that I could do everything at home. Now, I write my beautiful letter, I'm so happy, I included in the envelope all the dear things that I put inside, and then since at home, I also have a precision balance, I had the customs slips and I also had some stamps bought in addition, I think: you know what? I call the Italian Post Office and ask how much is the postage a 160-gram letter from Italy to Australia. I call the call center, I'm on hold and after about ten minutes Mrs Ersilia answers me and she listens to me and says "Ah, so you want to send a registered letter?" - "No Mrs Ersilia, I would like to send a very normal letter, I have the stamps here, I know the weight, I also have the customs bill, can you tell me how much the stamps correspond to (that now the value isn't written, but it's is an abbreviation, they were B3 I think) so that I do the calculation and see if I have to go to the post office to buy others or if these are enough. " - "Eh, but we don't know these things." - "Mrs Ersilia, I called the information office of the Italian Post Office by selecting the item 'Information on shipping and postage' and you can't tell me the postage?" - "No, we don't do these things, you have to go to the post office." - and I "Mrs Ersilia, but the post office is 20 kilometres from my house ..." (which of course is not true) - and she "We don't do these things." - "But Mrs Ersilia (I kept repeating her name because I found it hilarious and also because she was pretty ... I mean, she didn't know what to think) Mrs Ersilia, but you will agree that it is a ridiculous thing that a user calls the post office for information on shipping and postage and the post office does not have this information, you know, the basic information, give information on postage. " - "No I can't agree on anything." - "Mrs Ersilia, but I'm not recording it! You can tell me as a human being, tell me it's ridiculous." - "I can't say anything, if you want you can also record the conversation." That's where I was sorry I didn't start the phone call by recording because I could have used it for one of my podcasts. Anyway, my 3 minutes podcast are running out, what did I do? I went to the post office where there was a very kind lady, the three stamps I had were enough, I only had to add one euro I think for a total of 10 or 11 euros now I don't remember, and there you go, the letter sent, let's hope it doesn't take 4 months to arrive.

    TESTO TRASCRITTO [ENGLISH BELOW]

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION
I have to buy a new phone. Since there are 'intelligent' phones, smartphones, apart from a short period in which I had the BlackBerry I have always had an iPhone, even at home I have an Apple computer so everything is connected. At the moment I have an iPhone 6s, not very old it will be about 3 years old and I bought it for its size, because I don't like to go out with the bag and therefore I always look for phones that are small enough to fit in my hand, because I have small hands, and then above all fit inside a pocket. Now, I've seen the flip phones, the ones that you fold, from Samsung, they are beautiful but should wait for them to make some more versions because I don't want to be a beta tester, a phone that costs 1000 euros - money that I don't have spare and that I wouldn't want to spend for a phone, but of course, they are beautiful because POF you fold them and you put them in your pocket. Anyway, now I find myself in the situation of having to decide. Why do I have to change the phone? Because it fell several times, and now the last fall happened two days ago, the glass is practically peeling off so in addition to having many, many cuts, it has shattered a bit, so it no longer responds well when you touch it with the finger, and changing the glass costs 90 euros. So my drama is: do I change the glass for 90 euros and have an old phone anyway, or do I spend a little more and buy a new phone? First I went to swappie, a website where you can buy refurbished iPhones, almost as new, and I saw several but I couldn't decide, then I went to the website that makes comparisons with a synoptic table, and I told myself, but sorry why not buy a phone that is not from Apple? And I have actually seen the Googler pixel 4 which, in size and price range could be fine, so soon I have to decide what to do? Then if I buy an Android phone, what happens with the apps I currently have on my iPhone? Will I be able to transfer them to the new phone? In short, a whole series of questions opens up to me that I would like someone to answer for me, I would like to have a shopper at my disposal, in fact, I might ask my son, if I can get him to do all these comparisons in exchange of a couple of 10 euro bills. Oh well, I'm at this point of the day, so now I finish this, prepare the podcast and then continue my research.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 283 Superman si adegua!
    TESTO TRASCRITTO [English below]

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION
This morning the world woke up and was overwhelmed by a revolution, nothing will ever be the same. No, of course, I'm kidding, but there was a small revolution in the world of comics because we read in the newspapers that the new Superman will be an activist and will be bisexual. I don't usually care about people's sexual preferences, be it real or in comics, but this is interesting because it's the first time that the historic DC Comics hero is openly saying to be in a gay relationship. It is interesting because it definitely shows a shift regarding acceptance, which is luckily increasing, of the sexual choices of people, and I still cannot understand why anyone would care what my sexual preferences are, frankly don't you think that it's just my business? And above all, I don't see how a person's sexual preferences can affect other people's lives. Oh well, these are other considerations, but the reason why this news made me particularly happy is, of course, because after 80 years of award-winning career Superman has finally adapted to what the real world is, but also because I have a particular interest in this new Superman, which has not yet been released but will be released soon, because its author Tom Taylor is the nephew of a friend of mine, a friend of mine from Melbourne, she is the mother of a former schoolmate of my son from elementary school, in fact, I remember Luca, this wonderful child with a blond hair bob who looked like Renato Cestiè, we used to have play dates together, he is a wonderful child, with a fantastic mother who among other things now Cate has resumed her career as an artist and is a very good folk singer, she writes her songs and sings them with the guitar. I love her very much and I am very happy when I read on Facebook that the author of this, author and screenwriter of the new series is none other than her nephew Tom Taylor, and oh well, a minimum of pride and say look at my friends eh? Have you seen? Not so much as in 'I know important people' but that my friends have nephews who go around the world and do beautiful things that also help society to progress and be a little less sanctimonious, a little less judgmental.

    TESTO TRASCRITTO

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION
I've never been a keen reader of Marvel comics, I really like comics, I really like graphic novels, but Marvel comics for some reason, I have never bought them, have never read them because - yes it's a horn that is honking outside, there must be a car double-parked - although I have never loved Marvel comics, I started watching the TV series called Loki, it's about the adventures of this character that I know very little about because I remember, many years ago, I watched the movie Thor at the cinema, and Loki is Thor's brother and if you see them, even without knowing anything about them, one is handsome, blond, muscular, high forehead, eyes looking towards the future, the other is skinny, low forehead, black hair, he doesn't look you in the eye but looks a bit grim, in short, Loki is the traitor in several ways. Now, I don't want to spoil anything, also because I wouldn't be able to because, I repeat, I didn't follow the saga, but I started watching Loki on tv, I subscribed to Disney Plus just to watch Loki, because I heard about it in enthusiastic terms from one of my favorite podcasts that talks about invented worlds, possible worlds, in fact it is called Imaginary Worlds, and in the episode dedicated to Loki they mainly talked about the aesthetic aspect of the sets and the way in which they built this world, now I won't start telling you everything, I only saw the first two episodes, but there is this super-world organisation that controls everything, and above all it controls timelines because there are so many multiverses, therefore alternative universes , and this organisation cuts, eliminates what doesn't fit with the main timeline, and to recreate an obsessive, haunting atmosphere of a humangous bureaucracy, they were inspired by the aesthetics of the 50s, think of the old democratic Germany, the old DDR in short to understand. There are these shades on brown, orange, round telephones, these shelves with a lot of books, then there are also coats of arms that remind me a little of the DDR coat of arms the one with the compass, and a little also reminds me of the scenography of Brazil, that fantastic film of the 80s I think ...

    TESTO TRASCRITTO [English below]

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION
I miss the underground. It is one of the few things I miss living here in Cagliari where there is no metro station, so there are no metro cars going underground either. Why the underground? Because it is one of those non-places, liminal spaces that are neither here and there, where above all in big cities, and by definition undergrounds are only, they exist only in big cities, and something always happens there, there is a great mass of bored humanity that's just waiting there, waiting for the train. And they are magical spaces because there a lot of things can happen, not only but above all when it comes to metro stations in Europe, therefore very old, there is also a historical stratification of old stations, modernised stations and new ones. One of these historic, closed stations was one, in fact not one but several stations in East Berlin. Before the wall came down, the West Berlin underground passed through East Berlin without stopping, and passed through ghost stations that had been closed because were inside East Berlin, so the people of East Berlin could definitely not use them because they would have gone through to West Berlin, but the people who lived in West Berlin crossed them with the underground train, which of course did not stop but went at very high speed because it didn't need to stop. But despite the fact that the train went very fast, looking out the window, you could still see signs on the walls, dusty cabins, seats and so on. Yes, sometimes these images come to my mind and I miss these images a little, because, as I said, in Cagliari there is no subway, but neither could you build one even if you wanted to because there are too many layers under the road pavement, so if they started digging today, tomorrow they would find a Roman road or Punic, Phoenician, Nuragic finds, so everything would close down and it would be one of the great unfinished constructions. Anyway, yes these flashes of European cities come to mind every now and then, and this means that I miss travelling and that I have to hurry up to take a trip outside Italy because it has been too long.

I'm trying to record my daily podcast while my husband, here, oh, he stopped... So I said, no, he didn't stop, he moved into the other room. I'm trying to record the three minutes while my husband is vacuuming. I could get up, close the doors, I could wait for him to finish, but I thought, no, I will let you into my daily life on Sunday morning, and when there is some kind soul who takes the vacuum cleaner and so, without anyone asking, goes on the floors, I am very careful not to stop this good soul, whoever it might be, so I am here to record the three minutes with this very strong background that for once it is not the refrigerated trucks that come to bring the goods to the supermarkets that are in front of my house, but for once, in fact, it is my husband who is vacuuming the various rooms. Today, I would have liked to tell you about this initiative of some Italian museums that not only allow dogs to enter the museum, there have already been some museum organisations that have decided to allow dogs to enter the museum for some time, but I have read about another initiative that not only allows dogs to enter the museum, but even offers dog owners a dog sitting service, that is, you go to the dog with the museum, you go to the museum with the dog, but if you can't take it inside, if you think it could be a hindrance as you do with children, there is a place, the Istituzione Bologna Musei has set up a dog sitting service so you get there with your dog, you leave the dog to someone who takes care of it, a little like when they do babysitting and you can go and do your tour at the museum. And I think it is a very interesting thing that I would suggest to extend to babysitting as well, so for people who have young children, but also to husband wives and companion sitting. You know when you go to shops like Zara and at the entrance, there are all those bored men who look at their cell phones while their companions go looking, trying on the clothes inside Zara? Well, in my opinion, it could be an idea to set up something similar also in museums, so when one of the two people in the couple is interested in art and the other isn't, here you can go freely: the non-interested person can be otherwise entertained while waiting for the partner to exit.

The fantastic world of dry stone walls. As a Sardinian, I should know this world because if you know Sardinia you also know the nuraghi, those stone constructions that date back to three, four thousand years ago and which still stand despite being built with stones, without any type of concrete keeping them together, precisely the dry stone walls, the same walls that are found in the fields in Sardinia but also in Ireland and many other parts of Europe. Today I discovered that there is an international event for the construction of miniature dry stone walls. I'm sorry when you listen to this podcast it will be too late to participate because the deadline for sending the photographs of the dry stone walls is October 10th, so tomorrow, I'm sorry you will have to wait until next year, I will put the link in the program notes. This international competition for the construction of miniature dry stone walls is a fantastic world. There is this site where of course there are photos of the winners of the various editions, then there are instructions for those who want to try their hand at the construction of these dry stone walls for the first time, and also with advice, for example, they say, put some stones a little larger on the sides, which serve a bit as a frame, and then fill them with the smaller stones, use the large stones below and the small ones above, and then build them with all the fashions you want, with all the shapes, and give a name to your dry stone wall, the type of construction, and when taking a picture, they recommend, do not forget to photograph your dry stone wall next to an object to show the scale, to show the dimensions, in fact, in the photos on the website, the walls are always next to coins of one euro, 50 cents, bottle caps, because they are really very small. There are also links to courses that are offered, even as a prize, one of these courses is 'how to draw miniature walls' and I discovered an entire new world. At first, I began to look at the website with a little air of superiority, look at what they come up with, but then as you begin to read, to see, especially to see the photos they are fascinating, and well, you do get passionate. Anyway, the prizes are for the best wall, the most original one, the one with the highest number of arches, the one for the best photograph etc. In short, a lot of categories.
