This week James is thrilled to speak to Dr. Monique Y. Wells, a visionary, a change maker, and a steward of legacy.
In this episode, we explore Monique’s time in Paris, the African American perspective on travel and female empowerment.
Through her entrepreneurial work as a veterinary pathologist and toxicologist, travel professional, writer, speaker, and mentor, she understands the power of education to change lives.
Monique has combined her passion for literacy, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) education, the arts, travel/study abroad, and women’s empowerment under the umbrella of her non-profit organization, the Wells International Foundation (WIF). WIF serves women and people of African descent. Its mission is to cultivate global citizenship through education and culture.
As a long-time resident of Paris, France and the co-owner of the Entrée to Black Paris travel service, Monique shares the history, culture, and contemporary life of African Americans and the larger African diaspora in Paris through several walking tours and activities. As president of the French nonprofit association Les Amis de Beauford Delaney, she works to preserve and extend the legacy of painter Beauford Delaney, an African American from Knoxville, Tennessee who spent the last 26 years of his life in Paris.
Monique leads us through her developed passion for serving women entrepreneurs,
And through one-on-one “Q Time” (Quiet Time) sessions, she creates a safe space where high-achieving women leaders who feel isolated, lonely, and even guilty – because of their success – can exhale, focus, and release their inner wisdom to address their personal and professional challenges.
Of course, Monique shares her 3 steps for improving either the business, or the business owner.
