#30 Meditations: Self Bridging Bonds (with Abe Burnett)

In today's session, Abe will guide you through a calming meditation about knowing yourself, staying strong, and finding balance between your mind and body. We'll take a journey together using stories to understand how our thoughts and feelings connect to how our body feels. Imagine wide fields, feel safe in a cozy barn, and make your bond with a rider and her horse even stronger. This meditation is like a gentle reminder that it's important to keep your mind and body working well together for calm and peace inside you.

  • Introduction to Mind-Body Harmony
  • In this session, we want to introduce you to the main theme of self-awareness and resilience. It's all about finding a balance between your thoughts and your body, which is really important for how you feel.
  • Journeying Through Inner Landscape
  • To start, make yourself comfortable in a seated position and close your eyes. Take a deep breath in through your nose, and then slowly breathe out through your mouth. This will help you relax and get into the right mindset.
  • Awareness of Physical Presence
  • Shift your attention to your body. Notice if there are any areas that feel tense. As you breathe out, let go of the tension you might feel in your shoulders, jaw, back, and hands.
  • Witnessing Thoughts and Emotions
  • Now, think about your thoughts and feelings. Just observe them without judging yourself. Think of your thoughts like clouds passing by in the sky. Don't hold onto them. Let them come and go.
  • Anchoring with the Breath
  • Focus on your breath; it can help you stay centered. If your mind starts to wander, bring your attention back to your breath. Breathe in and out slowly, and this will help you feel calm and present.
  • Visualization: Riding the Waves
  • Let's try a visualization exercise. Take some deeper breaths and imagine your breath as waves, coming in and going out. Think of your thoughts and emotions like waves, too, rising and then settling down, just like the sea.
  • Returning to the Present
  • Gradually bring listeners back to the present moment by focusing on the breath and the physical sensations of the body.
  • Instruct them to open their eyes when ready, taking their time to reorient themselves to their surroundings.
