Listen Later

DFRobot was founded in 2008 and is a robotics and open source hardware provider, catering to hardware engineers, DIY enthusiasts, and interactive designers. Their ever-growing product catalog boasts over 900 components and widgets from sensors, robotic platform, communication modules to 3D printers.

The company has embarked on a mission of driving the future rooted in our corporate culture. A research and development team has continuously innovated with the latest technology and collaborated with various tech giants such as Intel, Microsoft, and Texas Instruments to maximize our impact.

The team at DF Robot strive to promote makers cultures by providing tools, electronics, and training for schools, hacker spaces, and hackathon events. Their technology is aimed at inspiring thousands of DIY hobbyists, educators and researchers from all walks of life and help members of all areas learn, share and make awesome things.

It is hoped that the creation of innovative, user-friendly products will become the building blocks in all kinds of projects and prototypes. Anyone that remembers the joy of tinkering with innovative, modern technology products should embrace and thrive in this supportive community.

I chat to Ricky Ye, the CEO of DFRobot, who is dedicated to creating innovative, user-friendly products that foster a strong community of learning. We talk about LattePanda, the portable single board computing device (40% smaller than an iPhone) that runs a full version of almost any operating system, including Windows 10.

The small computer is compatible with almost every gadget you use every day, such as printers, joysticks, cameras, etc. With all the same technology and capabilities of a regular PC, any peripherals that work on your PC will work on LattePanda.

  • Automotive: LattePanda equips cars with the “brain” of an autonomous vehicle by creating a computerized ecosystem powered by Windows 10. Other features include a self-driving central system, dash cam surveillance, sonar sensors for parking assistance and enhanced GPS navigation.
  • Gaming: LattePanda emulates gaming consoles, designing and 3D printing customized objects and offering endless access to torrents/online video you can hook up to the TV.
