In this episode, I share reflections from yesterday’s karate seminar and the conversations that followed. What stood out most was how many experienced black belts admitted they felt anxious about attending the workshop.
We often assume anxiety disappears with rank or years of training—but that’s far from the truth. I explore why even advanced martial artists experience nerves, self-doubt, and hesitation, and why this is not a weakness but part of growth.
I also break down an important mindset shift: anxiety and excitement are driven by the same chemical response in the body. The difference lies in how we interpret and guide our thoughts. Learning to redirect anxiety into excitement can completely change how we approach seminars, gradings, competitions, and personal development in karate and martial arts.
This episode is for karateka of all levels—especially black belts—who want to understand their mindset better, train with more freedom, and step onto the mat with confidence rather than fear.
