376 We Are Baptized Into the Death of Christ, A Guided Christian Meditation on Romans 6:3-5 with the Recenter With Christ app

I'm Chaplain Jared and I work as a hospice chaplain and an ICU chaplain, my purpose in making this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and to be more open for your heart to be changed by the Spirit of God. By using centuries old form of Christian Meditation named Lectio Divina:

Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization.

Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes.You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate.

NIV 3 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.

Meditation on Scripture:

Today I led a baptismal service for a young man. It has been wonderful seeing his desire to transform his life. He lives in government housing and has been recently attempting to turn his life toward God. Right after he came out of the water, he was glowing and explained a wonderful feeling that filled him. I explained how this was the spirit and it was a signal of how God would continue to inspire him going forward. I then taught him how the Holy Spirit can guide his life.

I find these types of moments to be precious beyond words. It is a manifestation of Gods love and power. As we give our lives over to God, we receive the promise of redemption by having our sin wiped away. As I saw this young man go down into the water and then rise up with joy filling his heart it reminded me of the joy of grace.

Each of us are in the same need before God. Regardless of where we are in life or how long we have been walking with God, each of us rely on the same grace for our salvation. As such we should remember the goodness of God to us. I invite you to help encourage those who attempt to walk with Christ or those who don't yet know him, that we can help others revive the joy that comes from following Christ into the waters of baptism.
