He also serves as Director of the Center for Policy Research on Energy and the Environment and is a faculty associate in both the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Program and the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies.

Prior to joining Princeton, Dr. Oppenheimer served as Chief Scientist at the Environmental Defense Fund and was a long-serving member on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
