Director TI West managed to crack the code in developing a movie trilogy. Maxxxine functions extremely well as a standalone film if you never watch the previous two movies in this saga(X and Pearl). And as the 3rd film in the trilogy, the movie sticks the landing in terms of the overall narrative of the character Maxine. The film nails everything about the 80's so much so that you as the audience get engulfed in the era. Plus also Kevin Bacon steals the movie easily.
