The Preacher turns and looks away from his own life at everybody else's, and it's worse. He sees the tears of the oppressed and says twice in one verse that they had no one to comfort them. He sees ambition that turns out to be envy. He sees a man with money and no son and no brother, working himself to death and asking who it's for. He can't fix any of it — and the only thing he offers is a second person to lift you up when you fall.

In this message, we continue our Life Under the Sun series by exploring Ecclesiastes 3 and the tension between God’s complete view and our limited point of view. Life is filled with seasons we can’t control, rush, or fully understand—but Scripture reminds us that God sees the whole picture.

God appointed a time for everything and made it beautiful in its time — then sealed the schedule so no one can find out what he's doing from beginning to end. And he applies that three times: to our work, to justice, and to death. He believes God will judge the righteous and the wicked. He just can't tell us when, and standing at a graveside he can't even prove we're different from the animals.

What happens when you get everything you thought would make life meaningful—and it still isn’t enough?
In this episode of the Going Deeper Podcast, we continue our Life Under the Sun series by exploring Ecclesiastes 1–2 and Solomon’s search for lasting satisfaction. Wisdom, pleasure, wealth, and achievement all promise something more, but each ultimately comes up empty.
Ecclesiastes invites us to stop asking the things of this life to give us ultimate meaning and instead receive them for what they are: gifts from the hand of God. We can enjoy the work, relationships, and moments in front of us without expecting them to satisfy what only God can.
What if the goal isn’t to get more out of life, but to enjoy what God has already placed in front of us?

The Preacher runs the most expensive experiment in history and reports the results. Pleasure, building projects, wealth, achievement, even wisdom — every category tested, every category found wanting. And the sharpest failure isn't decay over time; it's the handoff. Whatever we build gets given away the moment we die, to someone who never worked for it and may waste it.

What does it mean to live a meaningful life when everything around us is fleeting—and why does Ecclesiastes describe so much of life “under the sun” as meaningless?
In this episode of the Going Deeper Podcast, we begin our Life Under the Sun series by exploring Ecclesiastes 1 and its sobering look at our search for satisfaction, significance, and lasting impact. The Teacher forces us to confront a difficult question: What do we actually gain from all our striving?
We’ll unpack the difference between profit and portion, why nothing under the sun can ultimately give us the lasting return we’re searching for, and how Ecclesiastes invites us to receive and faithfully steward the life God has given us.
If our time is brief and so much of what we chase is temporary, what does it look like to spend our lives on what truly matters?

Before the Preacher tells us anything about his own life, he shows us the world running without us. Generations come and go, the sun circles back to where it started, the wind turns and turns, and every river runs to a sea that never fills. Nothing is new and nobody is remembered. Then he asks the question the whole book exists to answer: what does a person actually get out of all their work.

What is communion—and why does Paul warn us that we can approach the table in an “unworthy manner”?
In this episode of the Going Deeper Podcast, we explore the sacred meal at the center of Christian worship. Communion is more than a memorial service. It reminds us of creation, celebrates the new covenant Jesus established through His blood, makes visible the unity of the body of Christ, and points forward to the wedding feast of the Lamb.
We’ll unpack 1 Corinthians 10–11 and the Passover background behind the Lord’s Supper, asking what it means to remember His sacrifice, recognize His body, and anticipate His return.
As we come to the communion table, what are we really doing—and why does it matter that we do it together?
Join us as we go deeper into the history, meaning, and significance of communion.
Jesus handed his disciples bread and a cup on the night he was betrayed and told them to keep doing it until he came back. Christians have disagreed for five hundred years about what happens when we do — and Paul warned the Corinthians that taking it carelessly had made some of them sick. This week we ask what we're actually receiving, why it was never meant to be private, and then we take it together.
