The Topic
Tobias and I (R.C.) grew up together, having known each other since we were around five years old. Our wives, Bridget and Brenda, once introduced, picked right up like they had know each other in eternity past; they were fast friends, and our families have been close for the past seven years. We've played endless nights of Skip-Bo together, enjoyed countless meals together, walked through marital and familial issues together, and have even lived together for a while. We have journeyed this land that is the all-inclusive Christ together, and our two familes have been built together by the grace and love of God in His Son, Jesus Christ.
In December, we were reunited back in Oklahoma and took advantage of the opportunity to sit down and chat. We recorded a few hours worth of chatting, discussing various topics, and we're posting a snippet of one of those conversations here. Chances are we'll post more, but we're at least starting with this one.
So, our topic of discussion here is:
The identity of the Bride of Christ and how we, as believers, view and treat Her.
Again, we've been built together for over seven years - the past four on the foundation of Jesus Christ Himself. In other words, we know each other. Bridget can finish Brenda's thought even when Brenda doesn't. We are comfortable talking together and sharing Christ together, and this conversation stems from that deep knowing and love for Christ and each other.
We tackle some potentially weighty material from the prostitution of the Church to meet believers' needs to how Christ views His Bride. We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.
The Song
The opening song is "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars. The end song is a redeemed version written, and performed, by saints in one of the churches with which we are involved. The beautiful words follow:
His eyes, His eyes, make the stars look like they’re not shining
Her heart, her heart, beats perfectly, it was worth dying
They’re so beautiful and I tell them everyday
We know, we know, there is a perfect love within our union
We know, it shows, we are all you need so quit your doin’
And every time you ask me, “Do I look okay?” I’ll say . . .
Chorus:
When I see your face, I see Christ in you today
Bride you’re amazing, just the way you are
And when He smiles, the whole world stops and stares for awhile
Christ you’re amazing, just the way you are
His lips, His lips, taste so sweet like milk and honey
Her laugh, her laugh, lights up the room, it always gets me
They’re so beautiful, and I tell them everyday
You know, you know, you know, you know
that you’ll never change
Without the life of Christ in you
you’ll just stay the same
So don’t even bother tryin
It will be in vain
Chorus:
When I see your face, I see Christ in you today
Bride you’re amazing, just the way you are
And when He smiles, the angels stop and stare for awhile
Christ you’re amazing, every way you are
When I see your face, I see Christ in you today
Bride you’re amazing, just the way you are
And when He smiles, we all stop and stare for awhile
Christ you’re amazing, just the way you are
Christ you’re amazing every way you are
