Join us as we meet Angie Rivera. Angie was born and raised in the South Bronx, and moved to Riverdale in 2008. She's been through a handful of dark moments; foster care, severe depression, two suicide attempts, and the loss of my fiancé, but still tries to find the beauty and good in everything and everyone. Angie's a supporter of ‘Adopt don’t shop’ and maintains an Instagram page for her rescue dog, Bunky, and shows his little adventures with his sister, Daisy.

She started doing balloon displays in 2015 (Just 1 Pop Away), when health and time didn't permit for her to continue baking. Angie also volunteers with the 4Bronx Project, which she finds has been a highlight for her to be able to continue healing, by using her artistry through decorating and bringing smiles to as many people possible.

Join us as we meet Vanessa Ortiz. Vanessa is currently serving as the President of the Board of Directors for the cooperative residential building, River Point Towers, located at 555 Kappock Street in Spuyten Duyvil. Serving on a co-op board is a volunteer position, but it comes with huge responsibilities. According to the building’s by-laws, Vanessa is effectively a CEO of the corporation that is River Point Towers Cooperative, Inc., a 410-apartment community. Vanessa’s full-time job is with the Innocence Project, a national non-profit organization with a mission to free wrongly convicted people and create fair and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Vanessa also started her own interior design services business, This Bronx Girl Designs, during the height of the COVID 19 pandemic. She’s a native of the Bronx and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, has lived and worked in places like Bosnia, Afghanistan, the Middle East, as well as several African and Asian countries.

Join us as we meet Steven Padernacht. Steve is a real estate investor, sales person, property manager, bar owner, author and has been born and raised in The Bronx. Born into a family of three boys, Steve is the youngest. He credits his father for teaching him the importance of honesty and hard work.

Steve is now an associate broker with Keller Williams real estate in the Bronx, and has closed over $30 million worth of transactions in his career and has helped over 200 families find housing. Steve‘s father passed away in 2009 and after that he made it his mission to get the street, Gallo's Place in the Van Cortlandt Village community, renamed after his father - now called Howard E Padernacht Way.

Steve lives life very simply in one sense. This is the golden rule that he was taught when he was younger, treat others as you would want to be treated. In every situation, or every cross road in Steve's life, he uses his father as his angel and guiding voice.

They/them is an award winning activist turned singer-songwriter with a new release on all the streaming platforms called "Be the Cloud".Using music, they invite the listener to explore gender, identity and relationships. "Be the Cloud" is their 8th studio single, and it highlights how differences in a relationship can really enhance it if the people involved celebrate these differences.I.Den.t.T has been a queer activist for over 3 decades and has won multiple awards for creating programs, safer spaces and facilitating groups.They've supported the Bronx in the last few years at various pride festivals and works full time at Monroe College's Bronx campus in Fordham Manor.When they are not teaching at the college or performing on stage, they volunteer their time co-running a weekly meditation group and a queer book club with The LOFT LGBTQ Community Center and Queery.You can find I.Den.t.T on all major streaming platforms, on the socials, as well as on their website www.identt.biz.Their next two performances will be at BAAD, in the south Bronx and at the Palace Theater in Syracuse, NY.

Join us as we meet Julissa, owner of La Escuelita de Sofia and the Riverdale Pop-Up Market, on Mosholu Avenue.

Julissa is of Ecuadorian descent, and the youngest of 8 children.

Her mother immigrated to the US to provide a better future for her children. Through her mother's hard work and sacrifices, Julissa became the ambitious person she is today.

She thanks her aunt, who baby sat her while her mother worked multiple jobs, for instilling her passion for learning and teaching.

She attended Walton High School, where she tutored in French and Italian, gaining a love for languages.

She attended the College of New Rochelle and CUNY Lehman College. Julissa has taught High School, Middle School, Elementary and College levels.

Before she La Escuelita de Sofia, about 10 years ago, she ran the daycare out of her home on weekends and after school. On the insistence of one of the mothers, La Escuelita found its home on Mosholu Ave.

During the pandemic, she opened the Riverdale Pop-Up Market. Providing minority owned, small business owners, an outlet during uncertain times.
