There’s been a flurry of activity this weekend as the Penn State coaching staff welcomed a host of former Iowa State players to the program. While those players are critical to the team’s immediate success, how they fit—and what their additions say about the team’s future—are becoming clearer. I’ll be providing breakdowns of each position and player in the coming days, but this weekend I spent my time scouting defensive line targets.

Not only is the defensive line’s transition a key part of the team’s success next season, but most of that talent won’t be coming from Ames. On top of that, the team is incorporating a new defensive scheme under coordinator D’Anton Lynn. Identifying what Penn State is prioritizing along the defensive line will tell us more about the types of players and traits the staff values. It will also provide insight into the kind of front they want to build.
