In this episode, we discuss the classic movie: The Caine Mutiny. This movie is about a warship in the Pacific during WWII. The officers of the ship begin to think the Captain is not mentally fit to command. It comes to a head when, during a typhoon, the XO relieves him of command in order to prevent the ship from foundering. Once the storm is over and they return to port - he faces a court martial for Mutiny.

This is an ongoing series we will have - featuring some of the best legal movies. We will examine the law demonstrated in the movie, and what can lawyers or law students learn from this movie, as well as the entertainment aspect.

In this episode, we discuss Family Law Mediation. In many states, mediation is ordered by the court automatically in divorce and child custody cases. The parties will meet with a court-approved mediator to try to resolve some or all of the issues before the court, then report back to the court. We will discuss this process, some of the possible advantages, and the role of the attorney.

We will look at two different cases, Balfour v. Balfour and Merrit v. Merrit, and discuss how these precedents work together, and how lawyers make use of these precedents when presenting their legal arguments.
