The first signs of spring are showing up daily on the 40 Acres: seed catalogs, gardening supply flyers, even emails offering bees for sale. Cam and Miss are talking about the importance of those tiny pollinators, along with updates from the farm, news from across the pond, and words of wisdom from a woodworking listener from Louisiana.
Cam’s AWF (Away From the Farm) this week but still has plenty of updates from the home front, including the latest on Miss E, an unplanned bathroom renovation, and an incredible story of a Sudanese pastor who went from a prison cell in his native land to a small farm just a few miles from the 40 Acres.
Join Cam and Miss E at the kitchen table for the first podcast of the new year! The pair discuss the holidays, the “joys” of tending to critters in the freezing cold, five full years of farm living, and a spur-of-the-moment pilgrimage to the shrine of America’s first Catholic saint.
Cam and Miss E are back at the kitchen table, with dogs under foot and drinks in hand in this latest episode. Miss E has an update on her health, Cam’s got updates from the farm, and the pair take a look at a call for a “sin tax” on meat.
Description: It’s been a little less than a year since Miss E wrapped up her cancer treatments, and this week she learned it’s returned. Join Cam for a raw and emotional podcast as he provides the latest updates and shares words of support from the 40 Acre Family.
Ahead of a cold front and the first hard freeze of the fall, Cam and Miss E are working to build winter quarters for the bacon seeds. Cam’s also taking a look back at the recently concluded elections in Virginia, with some words of warning for complacent or apathetic voters across the country. Plus, a listener writes in with the bittersweet and increasingly common story of returning home after decades away to care for his aging parents.
The Carolina Reaper is the hottest pepper known to man, and right now there are three half gallon jars full of the bright red fireballs fermenting in Cam & Miss E's kitchen, thanks to some bartering with a listener. Plus, the pair are dealing with potentially pregnant pigs, and the slow end of the 2017 growing season.
Cam and Miss E are starting to wind down this year's garden, pulling up tomato plants as well as the pumpkin patch. They're getting some "help" from the newest addition to the 40 acres; Zelda, the Great Pyrenees puppy who's quickly reaching legendary status on and off the farm.
The calendar’s turned from summer to fall, and this year’s garden is starting to come to an end. Cam and Miss E are at the (rickety) picnic table on an autumn evening to talk about the new kid on the farm, surrendering to squash bugs, and a trip to the NRA’s World Shooting Championship in rural West Virginia.
