40 Going On 14

The late 80's and early 90's is a huge nostalgia period for a lot of folks these days, especially regarding their Disney cartoons. One of the cornerstone shows is 'Chip 'n Dale: #RescueRangers'!

Get ready to solve some mysteries with #ChipNDale, Zipper, #Gadget and good ol' Monterey Jack. All of the goofiness, good times and close shaves, we're doing a deep dive all the way into #Russian Gadget Hackwrench cults. (That's a thing, really.)

Buckle up buttercup, because in 2022, John #Mulaney, Andy #Samberg and This Lonely Island have sent a jolt through the franchise. Is it going to breathe life into it or will it be D.O.A.? Let's take a trip to the uncanny valley and find out!

What do Sid Caesar and The Kids in the Hall have in common? Why were these comedy heroes resurrected by a guy in a towel? When did Shakespeare become so bloody funny?   You're going to have to tune in to this very Canadian #KITH episode of '40 Going On 14' to find out! We all have our comedy heroes. Even our heroes have heroes. For a lot of comedians out there, these guys are their heroes. (That word has no meaning now, after saying it so much.)   Either listen to us first or watch the new series on #Amazonprime and binge the original series and then listen to us. No matter how you do it, you're going to end up saying for the rest of the day, "I'm crushing your head!"

If you're not familiar with Lucille Ball, you may have been living under a rock for the past 70+ years. For this very special episode, we're revisiting the classic TV sitcom 'I Love Lucy'. We're also fast forwarding to the recent Amazon Prime biopic from Aaron Sorkin called 'Being the Ricardos'.

All four of us grew up with wacky antics of Lucy, Desi, Fred and Ethel. We laughed, we cried and we all wanted a job at a chocolate factory. But there is so much more to this story. So much behind the scenes.

If you thought you knew Lucy, you may be in for some surprises. Get ready to stomp some grapes, drink some Vitameatavegamin and hop around on ledges with George Reeves aka Superman. We love Lucy and you should too!

What's the magic behind a good TV theme song? It can make or break a show and is your first impression of what's to come. It can also cross over and become a Billboard hit song, unless you're the theme from 'Star Trek: Enterprise', but that's another story. On this memory show, we're digging into the finer points of the show intro. Which one is our favorite? Which one makes us rage quit the series? Well, after our own intro, you'll find out! At this point, there are so many earworms in my head, I don't think I'll ever get them out. With all of that being said, take a listen.... if you dare.

The worst movie of all time? I beg to differ, (At least Joel does.) but that is the nomenclature it has been saddled with. (Yes, we're reviewing "Plan 9 From Outer Space" this week, that 1957 Ed Wood sci-fi film that set the bar at a certain height.) Despite this, there was a remake in 2015 by the soon to be labeled genius, John Johnson (Don't hold your breath on this one.). There will be blood in this episode, as opinions vary wildly, Edward D. Wood Jr has that effect on people. Can you handle the unfiltered facts, as they are the truth of the present and in the future. If you're not familiar with either director, I'll leave you with the quote to end all quotes. In the words of Eros, "Strong’? You see? You see! Your stupid minds! Stupid! Stupid!"

No, this show isn't all about us. Although, we are all jackasses in our own right. We're actually talking about Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam and the rest of the gang as we chronicle their history of super stunts, super gross outs and super hilarious moments, it's the #Jackass show.

The boys of Jackass were viral video pioneers, when the internet was still in its infancy. They set the standard for what turned into long history of spin off shows, copycats and people that took this to the next level.

With their recent 4th film, are these idiots still made of Nerf? How many of them still have their own teeth? Can they still pull off the stunts that made them famous? We're going to answer all of these questions with a sick bag in hand and our laughter at the ready. Giddy up!

The mustache is back! Not Tom Selleck or Doug Henning, but rather Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. The man, the myth, the legendary mystery solver!

This year brought us Sir Kenneth Branagh's retelling of 'Death on the Nile'. We're pitting it against the Peter Ustinov 1978 version and finding out who solves the murder first! Mustache vs mustache!!

There's no one quite like Agatha Christie's master detective. This is why his stories continue to be told over the decades. Hop on the big podcast boat of death, as there's been a murder.... on the Nile and '40 Going On 14' is going to bring someone to justice!

Our show is based around the joys of nostalgia and pop culture. Nothing says pop culture more that The #Oscars. Giving awards to the best in film entertainment and a giant spectacle of a program full of old and new Hollywood royalty. On this first ever celebration of this event, we're discussing the 1992 and 2022 ceremonies. Two years with some amazing moments, films and fun! Featuring Jack Palance, Billy Crystal, #WillSmith, John Travolta and more!!   It's the Oscars 94th celebration and none of us wore a tuxedo. To be honest, they're lucky some of us were wearing pants. Have a listen and enjoy the biggest night in show business! (No, I'm not referring to the #Razzies.)

We tend to break out into song, a lot. However, we're not much on dancing. If these movies have taught us anything, it's that in the 1950's, both things happened a LOT. Especially in the midst of gang violence and tragic love stories. In 1961, Robert Wise, Rita Moreno and Natalie Wood gave us the original West Side Story, an adaptation of this Broadway production. In 2021, Steven Spielberg and Rita Moreno are giving us the re-telling of this classic tale. Get your dancing Chuck Taylor's out of their mothballs and prepare your best Russ Tamblyn impression. We're kicking it old school, as we're headed to the west side! It's our thoughts on 'West Side Story' 1961 versus 2021 as #Oscars week continues!
