Yo, 412 fam! Grab your AirPods and your Bible because this episode is about to hit different.
In Mark 4:1–12, Jesus is out by the lake teaching a MASSIVE crowd, so many people that He has to hop in a boat and push off shore just to have room. Then He drops the Parable of the Sower… but wait, His own disciples pull Him aside like, “Uh, Jesus… why are You talking in riddles? Why not just say it straight?”
Jesus’ answer is wild: “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to those outside, everything is in parables, so that ‘Seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand…’” (v. 11–12)
Hold up… did Jesus just say He speaks in parables so that some people WON’T understand?!
In this episode we’re diving deep into:
- What Jesus is actually doing with parables (spoiler: it’s not to make things confusing for fun)
- The scary idea that hearts can get so hard that truth bounces off like seeds on a sidewalk
- Why being an “insider” with Jesus is a massive privilege we can’t take for granted
- How this passage is a gut-check for every single one of us: Are we the path, the rocks, the thorns… or the good soil?
If you’ve ever felt confused reading the Bible, wondered why some people “get it” and others don’t, or just want to know what it really means to have ears that actually hear… this episode is for you.
