みなさんこんにちは、かなこです！今日のシャドーイングは「～ている」です。

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “describing the current states that result from prior movements using “～ている”. In the previous lesson, we practiced the polite form “～ています”, but this time we will practice the casual form “～ている”. In the casual form, it’s common to drop “い” and it’s pronounced as “～てる”. Also, other particles such as “は” and “に” are often dropped in casual forms.

My family has come over to visit.　家族 うち(に) 来てる。

My cousin has come over to visit.　いとこ うち(に) 来てる。

My family has gone to Hawaii.　家族 ハワイ(に) 行ってる。

My father has gone to his work.　 お父さん 仕事(に) 行ってる。

My daughter has gone to school.  娘 学校(に) 行ってる。

My son has gone to university.  息子 大学(に) 行ってる。

My mom has gone on a business trip.　 お母さん 出張(に) 行ってる。

My sister has gone on a trip.　 妹 旅行(に) 行ってる。

I’m back at my parent’s house.　実家(に) 帰ってる。

My wife is back at her parent’s house.　奥さん 実家(に) 帰ってる。

My husband is back at his parent’s house.　旦那さん 実家(に) 帰ってる。
