Animals do not hold and store trauma. They do not have the capacity, because they do not have a soul (emotion, intellect, will). Because the human person is a soul-body, humans often hold on to the emotion, lies, and self-medication of memories and their stored trauma in our brains and therefore our bodies, whether consciously or unconsciously. Conversely, because the human person is soul-body, we can also choose to release the emotion, lies, and self-medication of memories and stored trauma and go on to experience "post traumatic growth."
