Hawk Newsome is one of the leading activists, along with former guest of the show Chivona Newsome (his sister), in the Black Lives Matter movement. Together, they co-founded Black Lives Matter Greater New York. Newsome's work extends far past just rallying and protesting, as he is also largely responsible for writing and passing numerous legislative bills to combat racial injustice and police brutality.
