The Cancer Council of Australia is pushing for warning labels to be placed on alcohol following similar moves made by the UK and Ireland.

Cancer Council’s Nutrition, Alcohol and Physical Activity Committee Chair Clare Hughes told Dean Miller on 4BC Breakfast, "There is really clear evidence that the International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies alcohol to be a group one carcinogen, which shows just how strong the evidence is that it causes cancer."

"Right now, there's no safe amount when it comes to cancer risk, which is why the alcohol guidelines recommend that the less you drink, the lower your risk."

​The State Government has announced a commission of inquiry into the CFMEU, promising to lift the lid on allegations of violence and culture problems within the union.

One of the voices calling for this commission, Queensland Major Contractors Association Chief Executive Andrew Chapman, told Dean Miller on 4BC Breakfast, "It's very hard to attract and retain people in the industry when you've got the kind of behaviour carrying on by the CFMEU that has happened in the past in the industry."

"We have lost so many good people out of the industry because of this kind of behaviour."

Leading Paediatric Nutritionist Mandy Sacher believes the government-backed Health Star Rating system is being 'gamed' by Australian food manufacturers.

To combat this misinformation Mandy is launching the Real Food Rating which is a new, independent front-of-pack labelling system that gives Australians the deal details.
