The Australian Federal Police, Queensland Police and Australian Border Force have charged a group of 13 men in the largest-ever cocaine bust in Australian history.

The police seized a whopping 2.34 tonnes of cocaine with an estimated street value of $760 million from a vessel off the coast of Queensland on Saturday.

Australian Federal Police Commander Stephen Jay told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, 'we alleged that the organisers of this include the vice president of the Brisbane Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang, so a significant impact we believe.'

The Royal Commission into Veteran Suicide has finally been handed down with the report finding that 1677 serving and former defence personnel have died by suicide between 1997 and 2021.

This is more than 20-times the number killed in active duty over the same period.

Additionally, the report revealed that 800 sexual assaults have been recorded within the ADF in the last five years, with 60 per cent of cases believed to have not been reported.

Julie-Anne Finney, who sadly lost her Royal Navy son David to suicide in 2019, told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, 'I'm incredibly grateful for the amount of recommendations that have been accepted by the government.'

'If this isn't lip service, then I believe we're going to go a long way to saving lives,' she said.

Paul Vautin has officially retired from broadcasting after more than three decades on Nine's Wide World of Sport.

The rugby league legend told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, 'the game's in a great spot... they're doing their best. It's just a couple of things that annoy me, but that's not the reason I retired.'

'I retired because I just ran out of petrol and in the end, I started driving to Brisbane for a Friday night game, going, you know what, I wish I was at home watching the footy tonight rather than driving up here and calling it.

So, I just ran out of juice,' Vautin said.

Fatty said he feels 'proud and contented' with his broadcasting career.

The nation’s second-biggest pubs group, Australian Venue Co, has informed managers there will be no celebrations or acknowledgment of Australia Day at their premises in 2025.

The change comes due to claims the day causes 'sadness' and 'hurt' for some patrons.

Warren Mundine told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, 'this is what it's all about, Australia. It's not about anyone else. It's about Australians.'

'It's about all these people that come here as immigrants after the Second World War and before and helped with Indigenous people and other people who were here before that and built this great nation.

That's what we should be celebrating,' Mundine said.

A new survey has revealed that Queensland nurses have been ditching night shifts because of verbal, physical and sexual harassment when they are walking to and from their cars after hours.

The President of the Nurses Professional Association of Queensland, Kara Thomas, told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "a lot of them are having to park a long way from the hospital and walk quite some distances in the dark where there is no CCTV cameras."

"It's very poor lighting, we're in the midst of a crime crisis and they're telling us stories about being threatened physically, verbally abused, nurses have been egged and run back into the hospital."

There is an alleyway near Ipswich hospital that our members tell us has been dubbed 'rape alley',' she said.

Dan Nolan and Ben Stivala have won Queensland Journalist of the Year for their work on A Current Affair at The Clarion Awards on Saturday.

They won the award for their work following Yolanda Borucki, a former childcare manager accused of accessing a work computer without her former employer's consent and distributing confidential documents.

Dan Nolan told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, 'both of us are very proud to have won those awards and won that honour, but unfortunately the investigation that we've won it for, there's really nothing to celebrate about this case involving Ashley Griffiths and how it's been handled.'

'There's been a lot of missed opportunities and there's been a lot of failures in this case,' Nolan said.
