Brisbane is bracing for Tropical Cyclone Alfred with heavy rain and winds expected, but there is time to prepared which everyone should be doing.
Brisbane City Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "We went into the summer with 100,000 sandbags, which is double the number we normally have in the lead-up to summer."
"In the 2022 flood we, in one 24-hour period, distributed 37,000 sandbags in one day."
"Yesterday, 74,000 sandbags were distributed, so we're talking unprecedented, we've never been able to distribute so many sandbags in a 24-hour period."
"There's people that have been queuing up and there's a bit of frustration, but it's the pure demand that's there at the moment," Lord Mayor Schrinner said.
