Logan City Council Mayor Jon Raven has stated it's unaffordable to maintain parks, roads, and rubbish services.

The mayor has posted a video asking Logan rate-payers whether they would like to pay more for better services or have less services, but cheaper rates.

Logan Mayor Jon Raven told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, "We experience the same inflation pressures that people do on their household budget."

"Councils only collect $0.03 out of every dollar of tax that you pay, state collect $0.17 and the feds collect $0.80."

"So, we really rely on the state and federal government in supporting us, especially with infrastructure spend and other areas like that," Mayor Raven said.

A controversial proposal to build a McDonalds in the middle of residential homes in Hendra has been given the tick of approval by Brisbane City Council.

However, local residents are firmly against what would be an Australian first since no fast food outlet has even been placed on a residential site.

Spokesman for Hendra Locals Against McDonalds Bill Moore told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, "They're talking about 180 car movements an hour, that's a car every 20 seconds going in and out of that place."

"All of the patrons that are leaving the property to get out and turn right, they're going to be facing a queue of traffic that are waiting to get through the traffic lights."

"It just seems absurd," Mr. Moore said.

Queensland is in shock following the tragic news that 17-year-old Charlize Zmuda lost her life after being attacked by a shark at Bribie Island's most popular beach.

9News Reporter Andrea Crothers told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, "The family just released a statement that says, Charlize was loved by many and was the shining light who truly touched the lives of everyone else she met."

"She loved the beach and it truly was her happiest place on earth."

The Brisbane City Council has supported a decision allowing developers to include fewer carparks in new high-density apartments in the inner city.

In 2024, the Lord Mayor introduced this policy in four suburbs, and it will now be expanded to 15.

Bill McDonald said on 4BC Mornings, "I understand what the Lord Mayor is hoping to achieve but I’m not convinced it does much more than put more money in developers pockets."
