Aniche sees sounds as colors, shapes and textures. Born with synesthesia (no, really) he puts that to work on Prologue, his EP forthcoming on April 10 2020 from Doorly's @reptiledysfunctionclub label.

He also provided a new mix for 5 Mag's #StayHomeDisco series, featuring some of the music from Prologue and debuting now.

Seeker of unquantifiable sound, producer AIMES is back with a tantalizing new release on his Wonder Stories imprint. A Star In The Sky is a new six track EP that Juno has elected to label under "Disco/Nu Disco" because "Brutalist No Wave Off-Kilter 8-Bit Acid House" isn't in their database. Yet that's the best way to describe some of the more outré moments from A Star In The Sky, backed with "We Are Eternal" and remixes from Hardway Bros, Massimiliano Pagliara and Que Sakamoto & NT: https://www.juno.co.uk/products/aimes-a-star-in-the-sky-ep/766583-01/

AIMES is the production moniker of Aman Ellis, a multi-disciplinary musician who began writing and producing his own music as a young teenager in his parent’s basement. In 2011 he started Wonder Stories Records, which has released his own music framed by records from our man DJ Rocca, Macaulay and more.

Our next #StayHomeDisco set comes by way of Closer To Truth Records. Honeydripper, aka Steven Gevenich is a Canadian producer, musician and deep house producer. As we wrote in our review of his EP "Haven't Lost Hope," the guitarist has previously released music in other genres and "if he sticks it out through the dull moments and soul-sucking nihilism of the digital music industry circa 2019 he's one that we're going to have to keep an eye on." We're pleased to see he has, and we are. :)

Honeydripper's next two releases are the Maybe EP on Hustler Trax (April 13 Beatport exclusive) and What You Do on Closer To Truth (May 11 Traxsource exclusive).

Among the more prophetic lyrics of the pre-Quarantine Era, one has to secure a special place for Hifi Sean's "Heavy" with Crystal Waters. Does anything else capture the zeitgeist of our times more than "The whole world’s in ruins, fuck me"?

In Harold Heath's 5 Mag cover story on the track, Sean and Crystal were at pains to point out that "Heavy" wasn't just about the UK exiting the European Union. "I would like to make the point it’s not a 'Brexit record' and I would hate for it to be thought of like that," he said. "It’s a record for our times in general."

Three new remixes of "Heavy" are out now on promo release on Traxsource. Of particular note is a remix by Jamie 3:26 and Danou P, but they're all marvelous interpretations of a track that has captured the spirit of the times: https://www.traxsource.com/title/1297600/heavy-remix

For this week's first #StayHomeDisco set, we have a mix from Hifi Sean, originally recorded for Heidi Lawden's show on Dublab: https://www.dublab.com/archive/heidi-lawden-w-hifi-sean-the-soup-dragons-magic-roundabout-03-20-19"

Ralph Session is an old friend of 5 Mag. The native New Yorker DJ and producer positions his sound as somewhere between "the musicality and skippy rhythms of NY house and the raw and relentless beats of Chicago" - the smooth sophistication of one with the raw'az'hell vibe of another. Since 2008 @RalphSession has released house music on BlackSoul Music, Chicago’s Whitebeard, Philly’s Emby label, and worked with vocalists Sheree Hicks, Dajae, Jesante and spoken word artist E-man.

His latest releases are the For The Dancers EP on his own Half Assed Records:
