Marc Cotterell has been hammering solid new music on his Plastik People label for the last four years, with a sound I found best described as "Deep House, UK Garage and everything good that comes from them." With the *Collections* series, Marc Cotterell is also bringing cult UKG tracks back into circulation on black wax. Now up to Vol 6, Collections has featured UKG classics and old school secret weapons from the likes of Scott Garcia, Donnell Rush, DB Selective and others.

Originally, we were going to ask Marc to talk about some of these reissues and what they mean, and we did, but we got a little more in-depth in an interview as well. And we're also thrilled that Marc put together an exclusive UK Garage mix exclusively for this issue.

Is 2004 "classic mix" territory already? Well it's a few years old, but here is a mix from Frankie Knuckles recorded live at the Palms Hotel in Miami on March 8 2004. Original seems to have fallen off the internet.

One of the producers that have been on my radar for quite some time now is Sheffield’s Sandy Turnbull. Known for his Disco House fusions, he has received musical support by DJs such as Derrick Carter, Groove Armada, Blaze, Jimpster, Mark Farina, Tony Humphries, Horse Meat Disco, Jellybean Benitez to name a few.

Tyrel Williams and Bai-ee together make up Secret Studio and @secret-studio-records - one of the most outstanding new labels to emerge in the last few years. Formed in the Bay Area by two guys with deep roots in Chicago, Secret Studio has specialized in a sound steeped in acid, jack tracks and the rawest House and Techno imaginable. We’re proud to showcase a mix bookended by tracks from 2AMFM for the 49th 5 Mag Mix.

We first took notice of Ples Jones when both Jeremy Sylvester and Roy Davis Jr. mentioned working with this Pittsburgh native. Ples Jones has worked and learned from other big names such as Stonebridge, Crystal Waters and the Basement Boys, and with a decade of work behind him, his creations range everywhere from House to Hip-Hop, R&B and anything with soul.

WE LOVE ARTISTS that evolve and yet never forget their Garage roots, and that’s just what Scott Diaz has done.

Scott Diaz has always been a big favorite and friend of ours at 5 Mag. Now shuttling back and forth between the UK and the US (namely Philadelphia), Scott’s created a new label with some very beautiful sounding music that goes by the very grand name of Grand Plans.

This is his exclusive UK Garage set for 5 Magazine's issue 144 cover story:
