Honestly...a brutal marriage, a loved one in jail, single motherhood, second marriage, step mom... none of this was my childhood dream...I would never have agreed to it I had been told where my road would go. But NOW I can see the good. How about you?
Today I started writing down the list of what we are finding. That's the only way I will remember.
Yep. I'm a control freak so I love to take matters into my own hands. I don't trust others to do it right and I don't trust God either. And He is so slow sometimes. So today's lesson is a hard one.
Maybe BECAUSE I brushed this off all of my life... thinking it wasn't crucial to the story... maybe that's why I thought I was someone to loathe...for me to loathe myself, for others to loathe me and, God. I was convinced he loathed me. But maybe, just maybe, if we didn't brush past this....
Do you say yes to Him? Do you fight Him and give Him reasons not to use you instead of doing what He's asking you to do? I always feel like He picked the wrong person when He picks me!
Why would you - yes, you - keep anything around if it isn't doing what it is supposed to? From pots and pans, to tools, to exercise equipment, etc. There are lots of things around our house that we get rid of when they no longer do what they were made to do - children excluded. So why wouldn't God do the same?
So I used to weigh a lot more than I do today. Even though it has been years, I get paranoid about gaining it back. In the last year, there has only been one way to relieve that paranoia. If I am obsessing about something that does not matter, start obsessing about something that does matter. Listen for more:)
I would love to be the best Christian ever...that when I get to heaven, God pushes others aside because He is so excited that one of His favorites came home....Who's the whack job now????
We are only in chapter 2 and I've already come to the painful conclusion that God often calls us to hard places...or to do things we don't want to, go where we don't want to...Completely abandon our plan for life. I don't know that it will ever be easy to accept. The only way that is even possible is to accept one more thing guaranteed to happen.
Ted and I got into the DUMBEST argument this weekend. Over a painted door. So stupid. Anyways, I read about the disciples having almost equally as stupid of a debate. I'm thankful they are dumb like me.
