Glacier Day (Dawes Glacier): Experienced classic rainy weather but achieved the closest approach to the glacier of the season. The family booked the Glacier Explorer boat excursion to get up close to the ice and spotted orcas, seals, and whales.
Port Stop 1 (Skagway): A long, 12-hour port day where the family bypassed Disney’s excursions to book third-party tours. Activities included riding the scenic White Pass and Yukon Route Railway to the summit and visiting a summer mushers’ camp to be pulled by real sled dogs and hold puppies.
Port Stop 2 (Icy Strait Point): After a Disney whale-watching excursion was canceled due to mechanical issues, the family explored the highly commercialized, restored cannery resort area and rode the ZipRider, one of the world’s largest ziplines, racing each other down the mountain.
