My guest today is Janine Benyus.
Janine is a science writer, innovator, thought leader, and pioneer in the field of biomimicry - the study of how we can emulate nature.
We discuss how Janine came to the idea of biomimicry, what led her to that conclusion and into, more or less, creating that field. We discuss what we can learn from nature and how we can emulate natural processes and apply what we've learned to the design of the built-in environment or whatever we’re designing or using as humans. We discuss why a biologist should be at the design table and why biology should be a part of the design process as well as some examples of biomimicry like how the study of a leaf lead to a new type of paint that can clean itself with water and how the study of bones and bone structure changed how we can build buildings. We also discuss the power of regenerative ranching.
It was an honor to sit down with Janine. I hope y’all enjoy.
