What would be the most difficult and devastating thing for God to call you to do for His purpose and His glory? Ezekiel knew the answer to this question first hand when God told him He was going to kill his wife to serve as a living example to the people of Judah. Why would God do this? What was the point of it? Could He ask the same of us today?

Ever feel like you're a fraud before God. You go to Him telling Him you want to know His Word and you want Him to show you where you need to repent and change, but deep down, you don't really want to change; you're just pretending that you want to rid yourself of your idols, but secretly, you want to hold onto them. If you've ever felt like this, than Ezekiel chapter 14 has a message for you!

Imagine knowing the absolute truth of God and trying to tell people – warn people about it, and only being met with ridicule and derision. Imagine being hated because while you’re speaking the Word of God, others, who say they are speaking the word of God, are giving much happier and easier to digest messages. Imagine people wanting to kill you because you are trying to get them to repent of their sin and turn to God. Imagine your own government calling you a traitor because of your faithfulness to God and His Truth. Sound familiar? We’re not prophets, and not every word in the prophetic books is applicable for us, but the words in Jeremiah chapter 10 are definitely relatable for us!

There's an old adage, "As the leader goes, so go the people." We see the truth of these words over and over in Scripture; but we also see the truth of them pertaining to the spiritual leaders we ourselves are under. How does the beliefs and priorities of our Pastor and church directly affect our beliefs and priorities?

Isaiah 46 tells us how physically heavy the wooden and metal idols the Israelites worshipped were. The idols we have in our life and heart, can be just as heavy physically, mentally, and emotionally. Thankfully, God has given us a built-in idol detector!

In Isaiah 31:1 - 9, God warns the people of Judah against seeking help from the Egyptians, instead of trusting Him to be their help. Do we do that? Do we run to other people, medicine, or social media when we have a crisis, problem, or dilemma before we go to God? Are you seeking help from the right place?

Scripture tells us in several places that we shouldn't envy the wicked because they will someday have to face God's judgement and wrath. But believers aren't the only ones who have to deal with jealousy. Psalm 112, among other places, tells us that the wicked will seethe with envy over believers. What encouragements does Psalm 112 give, and what is the everyday application for us?

All of us yearn for something. Maybe we yearn for our family to get straightened out; or a wayward child to return to us. Maybe we yearn for the day when we aren’t struggling to pay our bills; or maybe we yearn for family members or friends to come to Christ. These things are all good things to want, but as Psalm 84 shows us, what our souls should truly yearn for is the presence of God.

Jotham, son of King Azariah, in 2Kings 15 and 2Chronicles 27 gives us a great example of someone who humbly and diligently just does the next right thing. He keeps it simple, and so should we!
