    Pen Vogler works in publishing and is the editor of Penguin's Great Food series. She has given talks and tastings on food in history, including on meals and dining in the Georgian era, throughout the UK. She has appeared on television, cooking and discussing recipes, including on Mrs Dickens' Family Christmas on BBC2 with Sue Perkins. She has also written on the subject for the Guardian, the Observer, and The Lady. Pen has published three books, the first Dinner with Mr. Darcy: Recipes Inspired by the Novels and Letters of Jane Austen was published in 2013. Her second, Tea with Jane Austen: Recipies Inspired by her Novels and Letters, was published in 2016 and in 2017 Pen published a Dickensian inspired book, Dinner with Dickens: Recipes Inspired by the Life and Work of Charles Dickens.

    Mark Hix is an English chef and restaurateur. He is known for his original take on British gastronomy. After 17 years as Chef Director at Caprice Holdings, he opened his first restaurant in 2008 – the distinguished HIX Oyster & Chop House in Farringdon. Following the success of Chop House Mark opened HIX Mayfair, HIX Soho, HIX City and his chicken and steak concept restaurants Tramshed in Shoreditch, and Hixter Bankside. In autumn of 2015 Mark opened his first stand-alone bar in The Old Vic theatre, offering a late-night venue in Waterloo. Mark and long-time friend Damien Hirst announced their collaboration on Pharmacy 2: colliding their two greatest passions, art and food. The restaurant in Vauxhall opened its doors on 23 February 2016.

    Claudia Roden was born and brought up in Cairo, and educated in Paris and in London, where she has lived for many years. Widely admired as both a great cook and a fine writer, she is world-renowned for authoring classic cookbooks, such as Arabesque and The Book of Jewish Food. Claudia meticulously researches each book and draws upon her Jewish heritage and extensive travelling to create comprehensive guides to some of the world’s greatest cuisines.     Running away to the circus in Mexico.
    Katie Hickman was born into a diplomatic family and spent the first 25 years of her life living in Europe, the Far East and South America. Her first book, Dreams of the Peaceful Dragon (1987), an account of a journey on horseback across the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, was followed by The Quetzal Summer (1992), a novel about love and death in the Andes. In 1993 she published a second travel book, A Trip to the Light Fantastic, an account of a year spent living and working with a Mexican circus, which was short-listed for the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award. She then turned to writing history books: Daughters of Britannia: the Lives and Times of Diplomatic Wives (1999) which rose to number two in the Sunday Times Bestseller list, and 2003’s bestselling Courtesans. Her later novels include The Aviary Gate (2009) and The Pindar Diamond (2010). She lives in London with her two children and her husband, the philosopher A.C. Grayling.
