We had a truly international cohort on this call, as each member of Dave’s family were born in a different country, as were the members of Jussi's family!
One of the stand-out things from this episode was that both Dave and Jussi agreed for a business to be 6 stars they need to be led by purpose. If they weren't driven by purpose then they would be 5 stars 'at best', and in Jussi's words they would make some profits but die off and not last.
This is another episode that could have kept going!
Here are some highlights:
10:10 - the blue ocean strategy was a great start
12:55 - The erosion of institutions
21:10 - How Covid has shifted internal needs inside organisations to develop
24:00 - How you can survive the tsunami that’s coming
26:19 - Where leaders need to start with their transformation
30:58 - How people can feel more fulfilled
36:41 - What engagement in action looks like
39:08 - A company that’s 1300 years old
41:17 - The link between business and nature
Plus
Jussi throws down a challenge right at the end that Aveline agrees to!
Sit back and enjoy!

27:21 The biggest issue with old style, fear-based marketing

On this episode of the podcast we have Steve Barlow from The Change Gym, and Mike Irving from Advanced Business Abilities. This episode was incredibly insightful and educational, and we learnt a lot from these masters at human behaviour and ‘inner performance’.
Here are some key highlights of what we explored:
12:18 People have to change; it’s a given
13:00 In order for us to be the best, we need to change
18:40 Where we have learnt to ‘play it safe’
21:28 Quote from Einstein: “we’re all prisoners of our own mind”
27:15 The feeling of quitting - and how to push through
30:05 How our beliefs shape everything we experience
35:08 The concept of ‘force’ and how it spoils our journey
40:38 We are all ready to change at different levels
45:26 What stops most businesses from being 6 star
Plus more…
We never know where an episode is going to take us, or what magic evolves from the union of two people organically put together on a show. Which is part of the unique experience and joy of the 6 star business podcast.
As Mike talked about force being something that should be recognised immediately and eradicated in our lives - both personal and business - Steve explained how we all have different levels of ability to change, and that determines largely how quickly and readily we will reach ‘the next level’.
Surely if we want to expand beyond our current thinking and operating we need to move beyond those outer barriers and face our uncomfortable moments - to reach the other side.
Sit back, listen to these wise words, and see where they take you.
Enjoy.

This episode is a gem mined from the history lessons of commercial growth, evolution and commercial success. Dave and James took us on a journey that left us all wanting more.
We discussed what a 6-star business truly means in our evolving society and how competition needs to make way for greater needs coming from a community perspective, that's woven by purpose and care.
In this engaging and informative conversation we cover many topics:
10:10 Why the world needs 6 star businesses
12:39 Businesses exist for the good of the people and community, not the business
13:55 The inside experience of a global tech 6 star business
16:40 The outside customer experience of the global tech 6 star business
20:40 Do businesses exist for the benefit of shareholders? or the community?
28:00 Is business a competition? or a journey?
34:30 The direction of our new economy
Plus, we learnt first hand what it was like to work for a global 6-star tech business, AND we learnt first hand what it was like to be served as a customer by the same global 6-star tech business.
Brilliant, interesting, and thought provoking.
Enjoy!

Welcome to episode 8 of the Six Star Business Podcast!
In this episode we are talking to Rob from the UK, an experienced Google Ads consultant and copywriter who has done all aspects of marketing over the years, who ended up focussing on what he believed was the most critical element of engaging your audience: creating stories.
Alongside him we have Rashid, originally a business coach turned marketing and sales guru from Australia who now focusses on helping businesses to reduce their sales cycles down and make a seemingly complex sales process more simple.
In this fascinating conversation we cover many topics:
09:05 Rob’s experience with tradespeople who truly don’t care about 5 star reviews, and left a lot to be desired in terms of the customer experience
11:00 What Rashid believes is an acceptable level of delivery
12:00 Rashid’s favourite saying
15:00 How you need to communicate as a 5 star or 6 star rated business
20:08 Rob brings up the ‘C’ word
28:15 Why maintaining service standards alone isn’t enough
36:20 Rashid explains how a McDonalds can deliver a 6 Star review and experience, every time
Plus, Rob brings us home with how the Merriam Webster dictionary describes “client”:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/client
Definition of client
1: one that is under the protection of another
Food for thought indeed.
Enjoy!

Take note Football clubs: Chris and Kevin deliver an impromptu masterclass on how to take your club to 5 star reviews at least!
Both our guests have a couple of decades of experience each in their respective fields: Chris in Marketing and Kevin in Operational Performance Improvement.
Both Chris and Kevin found the last 12 months to be a great opportunity to evolve their skills and provide the changing market with new ways of delivering 5 star and 6 star experiences.
What came out of this engaging and informative conversation was a way that the European and UK football teams could truly deliver an experience worthy of a 5 star rating, and how the current proposed split to create a ‘Super League’ is a recipe for disaster and innovation!
Football clubs: here’s a masterclass for you!
Here’s a snapshot:
9:15 How to tell the difference between an essential worker and a non essential worker during the pandemic
15:05 How does a big business get there - was it via lots of 5 star ratings?
16:40 The role society plays in a business delivering a 5 and 6 star experience
22:25 The current dilemma of the Big 6 football teams threatening to create a monopoly ‘Super League’
28:15 How technology can provide faster and more accurate information
40:35 Chris and Kevin give a rating on the Big 6 football clubs now
44:30 What it will take to get these clubs up to a 5 star review and at a stretch 6 stars
Lastly, Chris shares with us one positive, funny moment from the football fiasco that left us all laughing.
