We serve you up Part 1 of our interview with Aaron Franklin of Austin's Franklin BBQ. Aaron's iconic spot in Austin sustained a fire in late August. We talk to Aaron about that unfortunate accident--how it happened and what's in store, as well as his and others' decisions as to whether to attend Feast Portland in 2017.

Also, we thought, based on the sad restaurant closings in Portland this year, we'd revisit our January 2016 interview with restaurateur Kurt Huffman in A Ristretto Roasters Classic, in which Kurt proclaimed the coming year would be "restaurant Armageddon" in Portland. You can judge whether that occurred for yourself, but Mr. Huffman had some poignant insights into what was about to transpire in Portland.
