In this episode, I explore the cultural engagement model of Russell Moore by describing my appreciation and concern over his approach. Russell Moore is currently the editor in chief at Christianity Today. He was the director of Christianity Today’s Public Theology Project. Before that, he was the President of Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) of the Southern Baptist Convention. He has also served as the provost and dean at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The winsomeness strategy of cultural engagement has received widespread criticism for being an insufficient strategy to meet the time. Unfortunately, the critique of the strategy has largely fell on deaf ears to the biggest advocates of the winsome paradigm. I close out this episode showing how much of the winsome witness crowd behaves like fundamentalists.
