  • Rita Saffioti train line
With the Perth Airport rail line slowly edging closer to completion, the realisation of the proposed schedule is starting to hit home.
Peak hour for flights out of Perth Airport occurs between 5am and 6am as FIFO workers come home or head back to work, but there are concerns the train schedule won't suite the early travelers.
But WA Transport Minister, Rita Saffioti, says the schedule hasn't been confirmed.
"The exact operating hours for the rail line haven't yet been finalised. We've been concentrating on getting the project done," Minister Saffioti, told 6PR Breakfast.
"We're spending $1.8billion and I want to see as many people as possible; so if that means earlier operating hours... to get more people on the train, we will," she said.

  • City of Perth Dining Hall
The City of Perth's dining room could be demolished after a proposal to lease out offices at Council House was put forward, but 6PR presenter (and potential Lord Mayor candidate) Basil Zempilas says the dinning room is a necessity.
The dinning room was closed in March 2018 when the council was suspended, but it could be a permanent closure if Chair commissioner, Andrew Hammond, gets his way.
"It's the Capital City Council, and I've done some home work on this, every other Capital City Council in Australia has an equivalent function or facility."
"And why do they do that? Because they use the facility to promote their Capital City," Zempilas argued.
"If we want to be proud of Perth, we've got to show Perth off," he said.
But his co-host, Steve Mills, argued he should be taking them out and supporting local businesses or offering them a cuppa and a biscuit.
