734: The Tech Startup Eliminating The Need to Learn Coding

Listen Later

On today's tech podcast, I want to share a story idea with you about Bubble, the visual programming tool that allows anyone to build a custom, a complex website without writing (or even seeing) a single line of code.

Bubble introduces a new way to build an app. It’s a point-and-click programming tool, for web and mobile. No prior coding experience needed. Essentially, Bubble is a visual programming language for web and mobile applications. But how does it work?

The platform allows anyone to easily build and host web applications without writing a single line of code. Users start off with a blank canvas then they can create web pages with a drag and drop feature where users can easily resize maps, text boxes, images and more. Then users can create the logic behind their site by adding blocks to create a chronological action.

It’s an alternative to Ruby-on-Rails or Django and the company hosts all applications on its cloud platform. Some tech enthusiasts initially think Bubble is too good to be true, especially as many platforms have tried and failed to deliver code-free website building, but the platform truly works and an experienced Bubble user can actually build a web app similar in complexity to Airbnb in about week.

To prove how just how easy Bubble has made it for the average person to build a custom, complex website, one of their users decided to try and build a clone of Twitter... They successfully cloned Twitter in only 4 days using the Bubble platform.

However, I wanted to learn more about both the technology and the startup story behind Bubble. So, I invited their founder Emmanuel Straschnov onto the show to find out more. Born in Paris, he studied computer science and mathematics at Ecole Polytechnique and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

He is also committed to breaking the economic limits of technology and devising solutions that enable innovation and product development without coding software.
