Sony may be making a massive change to its PC strategy… and the timing is raising serious questions.
For the past several years, PlayStation has slowly brought major single player games to PC. Titles like God of War, Spider-Man, Horizon, The Last of Us, and Ghost of Tsushima eventually launched on Steam after their PlayStation release.
The strategy seemed simple.
Launch the game on PS5 first… then bring it to PC later for extra revenue.
But according to new reports from Bloomberg and industry insiders, Sony may now be pulling back from PC releases for first-party single player games.
Multiplayer titles will still come to PC.
Single player PlayStation games may stay exclusive to PS5.
So what changed?
Many players were expecting Ghost of Yotei to eventually come to PC, where Steam charts would reveal exactly how strong demand really is for PlayStation’s newer single player titles.
Steam charts show real player counts, and previous PlayStation games on PC have had mixed results.
Some titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Stellar Blade performed well, while others saw far lower player counts than expected.
Now the big question is:
Did Sony cancel future PC ports to strengthen PlayStation exclusivity…
or did they want to avoid the public Steam numbers that come with every PC release?
