Charlie Claire Burgess is a queer and trans-nonbinary author and illustrator working at the intersection of tarot, spirituality, and queerness. They are the author of Radical Tarot: Queer the Cards, Liberate Your Practice, and Create the Future and the creator of the Fifth Spirit Tarot and Gay Marseille Tarot decks. Charlie’s second book, Queer Devotion: Spirituality Beyond the Binary in Myth, Story, and Practice, is forthcoming from Hay House in May 2025. Charlie recently guest edited The Star issue of the annual print anthology of tarot-themed creative writing and art The Rebis, and Charlie’s short stories and non-fiction have appeared in The Lambda Literary Review, F(r)iction, Hunger Mountain, and elsewhere.
