Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “probably”.

“でしょう” is used when we make a guess or a prediction, therefore, you’ll hear this a lot in the weather forecast but not in casual conversation.

However, it can be used in a casual conversation/ when you want to check if the listener agrees with what you’ve just said. In this case, it is pronounced “でしょ”.

It will probably be sunny tomorrow in Tokyo.　 東京は明日晴れでしょう。

It will probably rain tomorrow in Nagoya.　名古屋は明日雨でしょう。

It will probably be cloudy tomorrow in Osaka.　大阪は明日くもりでしょう。

It will probably snow tomorrow in Hokkaido.　 北海道は明日雪が降るでしょう。

It’s going to be cold next week.　来週は寒くなるでしょう。

It’s going to be warm next month. 　来月は暖かくなるでしょう。

It’s going to be hot in the afternoon.　午後は暑くなるでしょう。

It’s going to be cool in the evening.　夕方には涼しくなるでしょう。

You know this person, right?　この人知ってるでしょ？

That restaurant was good, right?　あのレストランよかったでしょ？
