Sam Sinnott has been binge watching TV (again) and reckons Netflix's Bonding is worth a mention. And if you're looking for something that you can dip in and out of, this might be for you. Sam and Rachel also touch on some TV conspiracies, so stay tuned for more on that.
Sam is super excited about Killing Eve season two, yep that's right; it's finally here. And honestly, it's just pretty great. NB: spolier alert for Killing Eve season one.
Sam Sinnott's been watching Netflix's new series Special, and think's it's pretty damn good. The 8-episode series tells the story of Ryan, a gay man with mild cerebral palsy who decides to rewrite his identity as an accident victim and finally go after the life he wants. Sam reckons he's part of the target audience and rates it highly.
So What We Do in the Shadows is back but in a TV series form. And produced in the US. Wowee. But is it any good? Sam Sinnott, our resident binge TV reviewer, is on the case. He reckons it's as funny and wholesome as ever, aww.
The Act is an adaptation of the story of Gypsy-Rose and Dee Dee Blanchard, and Sam is finding it pretty heavy to say the least. Sam's four episodes deep, and he's completely immersed, despite already knowing the story. Worth a watch but very heavy so be warned (sam says).
So Sam wasn't the biggest fan of Ricky Gervais, but has his latest Netflix release, After Life, managed to change Sam's mind? With a warning of sensitive content, Sam reckons this is a pretty good series that's worth a binge watch.
Sam's really excited about Love, Death & Robots this week, another Netflix speciality that's pushing the boundaries of a TV series structure. With episodes ranging from six to 17 minutes, this show takes the data from your Netflix algorithm's and produces a sequence specific to your taste. Wow.
Sam's diving into some New Zealand TV, reviewing Fresh Eggs, from TVNZ On Demand. A black comedy following a couple adventure out of the city and into rural ground. Starring some of New Zealand's well know names, Sam reckons its a good laugh.
Everybody loves a good medical drama, right? From House to Scrubs... the list goes on, and Sam's got a personal favourite on that list. New Amsterdam is one season deep, based on the book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital by Eric Manheimer. The series follows Dr. Max Goodwin, the medical director of one of the oldest public hospitals in the US, with goals to reform the neglected facility. Sam reckons you should get amongst.
At Tess's special request, Sam (resident TV expert) investigates True Detective Season 3 but is the world of crime series over-saturated? Can yet another mystery thriller survive? Despite the long episodes, Sam's almost convinced...
