1993 - August 10th 1993, The Dave Matthews Band played a show in Virginia, where some of their songs were recorded live and made a debut on their first album.

2012 - Following the devastating Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting in July of 2012, during "The Dark Knight Rises", Motley Crue and Kiss donated $100,000 to the victim's families on August 10th 2012.

Artifact of the day: 1976 - Starting on August 10th 1976, Elton John launched a 10 night engagement at Madison Square Garden, which was record breaking for the venue.

1986 - On August 9th 1986, Queen performed their final show with Freddie Mercury in London England. Freddie went on to pass away only 5 years later.

1995 - KISS reunites to perform on MTV's "Unplugged" on August 9th 1995. It marked the first time they were together since 1980 and was also the first time without their signature makeup.

2005 - August 9th 2005, Nickelback released their debut track "Photograph" from their album "All The Right Reasons." The single sold over 1.4 million copies.

1998 - Happy 20th Birthday, Shawn Mendes! He was born on this day in August 1998.

2000 - On August 8th 2000, fans of the band "Insane Clown Posse" came together in Novi, Michigan for the first "Gathering of The Juggalos." It is now an annual event, attended by 20,000+.

Artifact of the day: 1970 - Janis Joplin purchased a headstone to honor her musical inspiration, Bessie Smith, on August 8th 1970. Bessie was a victim of racial discrimination and was refused access to medical aid, resulting in her tragic death in 1937.
