1984 - Prince released his album "Purple Rain" which featured his first U.S NO 1 single, "When Doves Cry."

1993 - "Sleepless in Seattle" starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan opens in theaters. The movie featured a hit soundtrack, with music from Nat King Cole and Harry Connick Jr.

2009 - Micheal Jackson was found dead in his Los Angeles mansion. The 50 year old music legend was the subject of worldwide mourning and countless tributes over the coming weeks.

Artifact of the day: 1967 - Today is World Beatles Day!               The Beatles premiered "All You Need is Love" to an audience of 400 million on a global TV broadcast.

1987 - Singer, Actor and Dancer Fred Astaire passed away at the age of 88, but not before welcoming Michael Jackson as the new king of song and dance. He was quoted shortly before his death saying: "I didn't want to leave this world without knowing who my descendant was, thank you, Michael."

1990 - Billy Joel takes the title of first rock act to play Yankee Stadium in two sold out shows at the venue.

2003 - Beyonce releases her first solo album, "Dangerously in Love", with the hit track "Crazy In Love."

Artifact of the day: 1966 - The Beatles' final world tour launches in Munich. Afterwards, the band refocused on studio creations and released "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

1981 - Lead vocalist of The Killers, Brandon Flowers was born in Henderson, Nevada.

1990 - Little Richard was finally given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Regarding the event, Little Richard said: "Like everything I got, it took a long time to get."

2011 - Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera released their No. 1 U.S Chart Winner "Moves Like Jagger." Their video for the song featured classic footage of Mick Jagger's famous dance moves.

Artifact of the day: 1972 - The inaugural Stonehenge Free Festival was held in England, celebrating the Summer Solstice. It took place between 1972 and 1984 and featured rockers, pagans and partiers celebrating together.

1989 - Prince worked closely with director Tim Burton to produce the "Batman: Motion Picture Soundtrack" and it was released on this day.

1992 - Mariah Carey earned her sixth Number 1 U.S Single with the song "I'll be there." This song also earned a U.S Number 1 in 1970 with "The Jackson Five."

2003 - Lionel Richie received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a brilliant birthday gift for the 54 year old musician.

Artifact of the day: 1969 - Inspired by Stanley Kubrick's movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" David Bowie records "Space Oddity."

The Coast Music Museum - June 19th 2018

1983 - Happy Birthday Macklemore! The 35 year old rapper was born in Seattle Washington, with the name Ben Haggerty.

1990 - Prince played the first night of his 12-night sold out engagement at Wembley Arena in London.

2004 - David Bowie took a lollipop to the eye when a fan threw one at him during a show in Oslo, Norway. He stopped the concert to remove it and fortunately suffered no injury from the bizarre incident.

Artifact of the day: 1973 - "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" debuts at the Royal Court Theater in London. The musical featured the popular song "Time Warp" and was late adapted into a cult classic film.
