Jon and I will be going to a metric ton of films this year (when you actually measure the weight of the film you see) and we honestly will not have even close to enough time to write reviews of every film that we see. However, we WILL (hopefully) have time to record podcasts at the very least about just about every film we see. We’ll also maybe write some reviews to some of these films. We’ll see. Let’s not make too many promises. The first two films we watched? The Ambassador and Juan of the Dead.

Ok, I’ve got a jam packed day today so this is gonna be the most rushed little blurb ever. This podcast was recorded from Sophie’s house! Since she’s back in Montreal! It’s awesome! It also means that Sophie is sort of around on this episode. Which is also pretty awesome. We also have a conversation as though we’re wearing headgears and it is ALSO awesome. This episode was a ton of a fun, it was great to have the whole crew together in a less stressful environment (Jon and Soph were both in the process of moving and stuff and it made keeping the site together a whole heck of a lot of trying).

It’s time for another episode of 9ES! Woo! After the flood of Fringe related Go Plug Yourselves this is surely a breath of fresh water. That doesn’t make any sense. Forget it.The fun part is actually that this episode was recorded at the Go Plug Yourself studio! By which I of course mean the back of Grumpy’s, so join Jon, Scott and I and the charming backround noise of our favorite bar in town and we gets all kinds of geek up on this mess. Those people next to us seemed really nice, although, when we started recording, they just seemd to get louder. Which simultaneously adds to the mystique of recording in a bar and also makes you wish they were quiet. I’m really torn up about this since those people seemed to be into video games like League of Legends, reddit and generaly geekiness. They were basically our target audience, sitting right there. Maybe they’ll listen to this and be like “HEY! That’s us!” and then they’ll try to isolate out our dialogue to hear whatever they were talking about and make their own podcast out of it and become more internet famous than we are.

We kick off another episode of 9ES by talking about Jon’s favorite topic. Of course I mean League of Legends, Jono and I sat down last week and watched CLG.NA get beaten by Team Solomid at MLG in Anaheim. Then we unlock the secrets of the mind.

 We talk in an extremely spoiler free way about Cabin in the Woods, which you should totally see. We get into different horror movie endings, Piranha 3DD. Scott is still listening to the Max Payne 3 Soundtrack, by HEALTH. That’s right, HEALTH, not HEATH, as Scott thinks it is (this is two for two Keith for those of you playing the home game). Playstation Plus put out a big pile of games, Jon and I are currently playing Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, Scott is still playing Counter Strike.

We talk about the man eating the face of another man in Florida, then we talk about Canada’s own cannibal Luka Magnotta (even though we didn’t know he was a cannibal at the time). To keep it all together we also talk about Dexter.

We lose our way a little bit and get to talking about how hard it would be to get Hulu up here in Canada, then we also talk about Sony’s copyright on putting ads in video games. We argue a lot about that Sony thing. It gets a little out of hand.

See? I told you we were getting our feet back underneath us! This is totally a new episode of 9ES! It’s barely been 2 weeks since the last one! Ok, technically there was no new podcast last week, but two weeks ago we had an episode of both, so quit your complaining. I know, you’re going to tell me that you weren’t complaining, but I know you were. You did it with your eyes. Anyhow, listen in as we get our geek on for your listening pleasure Oh yeah, this is a mini-announcement that’s about to happen! I’m gonna try to make Thursdays the podcast day! That means there will either be an episode of Go Plug Yourself or 9to5 Entertainment System every Thursday! See that? I tagged this in both 9ES and Go Plug Yourself because it is so hard to define. Why is that? Well, Ronan contributes to the site, so by extension he’s part of the 9to5 crew’s extended family (I think this is a poorly written sentence since I’ve used derivatives of the word ‘extend’). Also, he’s a guest host who works in the theater, so maybe it’s a Go Plug Yourself? It is an enigma wrapped in bacon. Anyhow, if you don’t know, Ronan (or Rolo as we sometimes call him) was flown in on the wings of his friends this Christmas . We were all pretty hung over and decided about 45 minutes before recording that we were gonna do a podcast with him, so Ronan picked up Jon, headed to my house, we cracked a few beers and then this happened:I’ll apologize in advance for the somewhat slow start on this one, like I said, we’re pretty hungover here folks.

We all talk about what got us into the joy of roleplaying games, all by very different paths. I don’t really want to spoil too much about this one since it’s all a nice sort of meandering story that centers around our youth and our development into the geeks that you know and love today. Basically, if you want to get nostalgic with us, we’d love to share.

Scott failed at getting his Rifts character class up on the site, he’ll have to fix this. Man, I can’t believe I don’t remember that girl’s name.

My favorite part about this entire episode?  Around minute 40:00 I step out to get more beer (so it was a surprise to me when I heard it in editing), Jon says that the girl Scott dated for 7 years asked him out first, then there’s an awkward silence and then Jon says he doesn’t think anyone would listen to this episode. Good times.
