So Jon left the files for episode 199 at home and he is up at the cottage. His lovely lady friend will be bringing him the files on Sunday so you can expect your regularly scheduled episode of 9ES sometime soon.
In the meantime we dusted off a VERY old episode of 9ES for your listening pleasure. Listener be warned: we swear a lot more in this episode than we do nowadays and there are probably more drug references than normal too. It was a different time. Apologies in advance for anything horrible that we might say. The views and opinions of ourselves 8 years ago do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of us in 2019.
Enjoy an awful trip down memory lane! Bzzort! Episode 199 up soon!
Also, as means of apology, here is a bonus Bad Dudes Command comic from Scott (another throwback to 2011):

The Montreal podcast that asks comedian Ben Miner: What do you do to get yourself through the winter?
We had Ben Miner on the show three years ago and a lot has changed since then. Nobody knows what a fingerboard is anymore, Donald Trump wasn’t President yet and Ben was a lot less fit. Ben decided a little while ago to get a trainer, get in shape and of course: keep making quality comedy.
On today’s episode we talk about internet anonymity, Batman cologne, how to stay inspired and also a little bit about the new thing he’s got going on over at Sirius XM. You may know him from running things over on the Just for Laughs Canada Channel but he’s about to launch a brand new show over on the SXM Canada Talks Channel. “Joint Ventures” will be a show every Saturday night at 11 pm EST on SXM Canada Talks and Ben will be bringing all kinds of elements of cannabis culture together in one place. It’s the first of its kind on a major radio outlet.
Oh also, you might notice that Walter is on this episode AND we have a special guest host: Mr. Chris Venditto. Chris was supposed to be the only co-host on this one but then I guess Walter strong armed his way back into his spot. Co-host feud incoming.
Enjoy the show!
Stay up to date with Ben on his Twitter @benminer and over on Facebook.

The Montreal podcast that asks Louis Rastelli: How do you explain your hair?
Let me try to put together a loose timeline of events for you. Louis Rastelli started writing local music reviews at some point in the 1980s. Fed up with mainstream printed press like The Gazette and not satisfied with alt-weeklies like The Mirror and The Hour, Louis turned his attention towards the DIY approach of publishing zines. Not the least of which was Fish Piss. Perhaps realizing that these small runs of of zines were likely candidates of work that could be lost to the ages, he became one of the founders of ARCMTL to promote and preserve independent culture. Working on his own (and other) zines lead him towards forming a kind of zine collective/distribution model called Distroboto (which re-purposes old cigarette machines to distribute zines, prints and music among other things). In 2002 he was one of the organizers of the first edition of Expozine in Montreal, and this weekend he is still on board as one of the organizers of the 18th edition.
I think that brings us up to speed.
Sitting down with Louis brought back a wave of memories for me, so the listener will have to endure my half remembered ramblings of zine launches, payphone hacking and cassette tapes. In order to make this slightly more bearable for you I enlisted the help of special guest host Inés Anaya to keep me on track.
So listen now, enjoy the show, and make your to 1025 Bélanger (Église Saint-Arsène) this weekend (November 16 & 17, 11 am to 6 pm) for the most recent edition of Expozine. Entrance is free so you can spend your money supporting the artists.
Of course a big thank you to Inés Anaya for stepping in on hosting duties this episode, follow this funny lady on all the socials. Facebook @clout__atlas on Instagram. She’s quite hip so she is probably on those social media platforms you haven’t even heard of. The comedy journal she talks about in this episode? You should check that out too: The Hindwing.

The Montreal podcast that asks Ram Krishnan (of The Unsettlers): What do you think the future holds for Greta Thunberg?
Normally Ram Krishnan plays bass for The Unsettlers, but on November 7th at La Vitrola, he will be behind the drum kit. Even more normally, Ram pours us beer at Grumpy’s. It’s a little strange to think of the sheer volume of beer Ram has poured me over the nearly 20 years that I’ve been drinking at Grumpy’s, to say nothing of the fact that he allows us to record a podcast out of the back the bar once every two weeks.
The Unsettlers, self described as “an eleven-piece band of time travelling troubadours” will be taking to the stage at La Vitrola with I believe most of those eleven pieces. If you haven’t had the chance to see The Unsettlers, their shows are few and far between because, as Ram says: “we never broke up, we just live in different cities.” So make the most of this rare concert and make your way to La Vitrola (4602 St. Laurent) to check them out (and get your tickets in advance).
Also, and this is very important: Music starts at 8:30 PM sharp with Declan O’Donavan opening up the festivities and The Unsettlers immediately following. So don’t be late, it’s a Thursday night and we’re all getting older.

The Montreal podcast that asks Robert Green of The Green Party: Who is the most overrated superhero of all time?
Nonstop hard hitting questions on our first real foray into the world of political interviews.
Robert Green is the Green Party candidate for NDG-Westmount and he was kind enough to come on the show to tell his tale of how one long haired environmentalist was inspired by David Suzuki to change the world. And why? So that we can eventually live in a Star Trek style utopia and journey to the stars. I may have gently suggested that last part but he agreed with me so I’m sticking with it.
Robert talks with me and special guest co-host Lawrence Corber about his passion for the environment, the absolute urgency of this planet’s impending destruction and his real opinions on one of DC’s most beloved superheroes. One of those things seems less important than the other, I will let you be the judge of which.
Check out Robert’s Facebook page for more info about him (you can even head down to Ye Olde Orchard TONIGHT for a little 5 a 7 if you want to meet him in person) and if you want to be informed about all of the Green Party’s policies (how they will eventually lead us towards interstellar exploration seems to be missing), check out the official Green Party of Canada website.
Regardless of whether or not you live in Robert’s riding (and even regardless of whether or not you intend to vote Green) you should probably head over to elections.ca and figure out where, how and when to vote this Monday, October 21st.
Enjoy the show!
Of course a big thank you to Lawrence Corber for stepping in on hosting duties this episode, follow this funny fellow on all the socials. Facebook @lullycorber Instagram @lully514 . You know all of his better than I do. He has twitter but he hasn’t updated it in 6 years.
