Rapidly Rotating Records

A “Beeline to Dixie” Edition of RRR #1217 Nov. 12, 2023

Listen Later

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? He’s musician, singer and songwriter Ernest Jansen Ingle, better known as “Red Ingle.” He’s best remembered for his comedy records with Spike Jones and His City Slickers and his own group, The Natural Seven, but in addition to some interesting biographical information, you’ll hear three of his earlier recordings with Ted Weems and His Orchestra. J. Bodewalt Lampe, Jeffrey T. Branen and Charlie Davis also have birthday segments this week. And in the final segment, we’ll motor down to Nashville via the Dixie Bee Line. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!
ENJOY THE SHOW!
