GABS stands for the Great Australian Beer spectacular, which originated in Melbourne and has made its way up to Brisbane finally!

This episode features Flex, one of the Co-Owners of Revel, Matty "The People's Brewer" as well as myself and a very special guest, Jimmy Hilldson from Tippler's Tap, which is a local tap house in Brisbane with 2 venues in Fortitude Valley and South Bank. The boys discussed what GABS is all about, including making a special beer for the occasion.

In this week's short episode, we touch on the difference between Independent Craft Beer and Big Beer. Both producers of these beers put a considerable amount of time and effort into brewing their beer. Parallels can be drawn between a local baker making bread for their community and those producing Independent Craft Beer.

While we have all known some of the larger brands as household names for years and enjoyed them over time, Independent Craft Beer certainly offers a unique variety of beers that can appeal to all palettes. Revel Brewing Co make everything from a Lager, Summer Ale and Pale Ale, right up to Stouts, a Berliner Weisse, which is a Strawberry Sour, and beers made from hops that are so fresh and delicate that can only be made once a year. They even produce a cider made from locally sourced apples.

This short clip features our host Matt, Co-Founders Flex and Jay along with Matty "The People's Brewer", touch on some of the differences between the two and hopefully answer a few questions in the process.

You spoke. We listened. The feedback from RBS episode 001 has been fantastic! Listeners in all corners of the world which has been amazing to see but what we were most stoked about is the support from our local, regular supporters of Revel Brewing Co! One piece of feedback we received was about the length of our episodes, so what we've decided to go is to release one full episode a month which will be around the 45 minute mark and then in the subsequent weeks, we will release shorter segments and mash ups that allow listeners to dive straight into certain topics.

Well here it is! A little while in the making, but we're bringing you the very first episode of "The Revel Brewing Show!" This podcast is all about the wonderful world that is independent craft beer! Brought to you from Bulimba, which is a suburb in Brisbane, Australia for those of you listening from far away, this is a platform that intends to inform, educate and open up a two way channel between people involved in the independent craft beer scene and anyone else looking to find out more about this industry.

My name's Matt and I'm probably more of a connoisseur than an expert when it comes to beer. But I have the privilege of interviewing the owners and operators of Revel Brewing Co. each episode as we unpack all things independent beer. Our regulars include Jay, the founding owner, Matty "The People's Brewer" and Matt or "Flex" as he's better known, who heads the business development. Not only will we be featuring these guys on each episode, but we will be getting other influential members of the independent beer scene on each episode to tell their stories and educate our audience as well.

This episode touches on the story about Revel itself and how the Bulimba based brewery is extremely community focused. The boys also go in depth about the difference between big beer and independent craft beer, as well as the story of getting Revel started, which included a very short window of time from getting the keys to opening day! We also touch on Revel's goals for 2019 and beyond and the specific aim's for this podcast which is to inform, educate and hopefully at times, entertain as well!
