  • Special Episode: Women & Politics

Well, in America...it is that time to vote for our next President of the United States. Also, in America, things have come to a serious head when it comes to what it truly means to be an ‘American.’ Whether one is truly equal or not. Whether being a female (specially a women of color) still limits your ability to purse positions, or especially, the people who are leading truly have no idea about your reality but trying to make all the decisions for you.

Therefore, we decided to have a conversation after the last Senator Kamala and VP Pence debate.

We thank and appreciate Diane Diaz, Lesley Batson, and Pamela Davis for joining us on this hot topic.

What are your thoughts on the political climate in America?

  • Our Different Points of View...

We never claim to speak for every black woman or white woman on our show. We are always sharing through the lens of our own experiences and our latest episode is a prime example of how we're raised, the environment we grow up in and individual experiences creates our narrative.

    Two black women.

Monick Halm joined us for our most recent episode and shared her view of being a black woman in America and it was really interesting to see how it differed from Tee-Ta's. Monick's shared about raising 3 children, her own experience of racism and why she takes the time to understand all points of view when it comes to race and racism.

Monick Halm is the founder of Real Estate Investor Goddesses.  She is an educator and advocate for women to create real wealth through real estate.  She is herself a real estate investor, syndicator, and developer with over 15 years of real estate investing experience in multi-family, mobile home parks, RV parks, flipping, commercial, vacation rentals, syndication, and ground-up development. Together with her husband Peter Halm, and her investors, she owns over 1300 rental units across 9 states.

Her mission is to assist 1 million women to achieve financial freedom through real estate.

  • Raw & Real With Erin Burch

Tiffany's ‘white' friend Erin Burch talks candidly with Tee-Ta and Tiffany about her journey to realizing her own whiteness, understanding true American history and why she went on the journey to unpacking her own bias. Tee-Ta does not hold back on the questions and Erin comes to the table in a raw and real way. As someone said on our live show ‘We need more Erin’s!’

We discuss white guilt, shame and how white women have a lot to thank black women for.

Erin references a lot of reading, watching and listening material that Tiffany is certainly going to explore as well.

  • Let’s Face It, You’re Probably Racist

Ok, before we get chewed up...the point we make is valid. We recently saw a post that really made sense. The statement, “I’m not racist, I just don’t support the looting and rioting and violence! I’d support them [hmm…now we are wondering who them is] if they protest peacefully.” The post went on to inform how the Chiefs and Texans were booed by fans for the first opening night of the NFL game of the season.

Why were the teams booed? Because they were standing in a moment of silence to acknowledge that racism exist. Remind you, 70% players are Black.

Soooooo…. how much more peaceful can you get with a moment of silence?

People need to stop lying. No, we hate racism and hate the value and behaviors of racist people…no argument there, but at least admit that you are racist. That is the honorable thing you can do. To pretend you support racial equality is worse than to come out and show you are racist.

People who boo, turn-up their noses, or try to justify every move to dismantle racism need to accept that they are racist. It isn’t in the matter of how one goes about encouraging racial equality…you simply disagree. Because…you are racist.

  • TAKE TWO – Part 2.2. A Black girl and TWO White girls. Candid and raw!

TAKE TWO – Part 2.2 of Tee-Ta’s experience growing up in Edmonds, WA, and Kelly Shepherd-Martin.

This is why we are doing TAKE TWO!

Although our first recording was good, we knew we could do better. So, again, this is TAKE TWO - with Queen Tee-Ta and dear old (white friend) Kelly Shepherd-Martin from Edmonds. A Black girl and TWO White girls. Candid and raw!

Per the discussion, we brought up White Guilt. We dropped a few different articles below, as we believe in learning from different angles and perspectives without denying the truth.

  • Edmonds, WA Part II with Kelly Shepard Martin

A day in the life of a black girl...

Did you see the latest episode (11)?

Tiffany interviewed Tee-Ta about her time growing up in the predominantly white town of Edmonds, Washington. To walk just a few minutes in the shoes of a black girl would have most white people in uproar. So, imagine what it's like day in and day out?

During Episode 12, we continued the conversation with Tee-Ta about her experiences in Edmonds, WA. This time we brought on Kelly Shepard Martin, a White friend from Edmonds.

Watch the very candid interview, we know it will help your mission of gaining a deeper understanding of what our black sisters go through so you can be a better ally. Empathy and understanding is healing.

The article we mentioned about ‘Race’ being made-up is here, and how the paradigm that Whites are scientifically superior is here: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2018/04/race-genetics-science-africa/.

  • Black & White Stereotypes

We simply talked about ‘Black & White Stereotypes.’ And a few different culture differences...like ‘Sweet Potato Pie & Pumpkin Pie.’ Or, ‘Black Don’t Crack.’

One comment from our Live from a White male had an interesting perspective: “I'm thinking that the Black stereotypes come from a place of racism and how white people chose to depict them, whereas the white stereotypes come from actual real qualities.” What is your take on that?

We like the definition we found from simple Wikipedia, “A stereotype is a mistaken idea or belief many people have about a thing or group that is based upon how they look on the outside, which may be untrue or only partly true. Stereotyping people is a type of prejudice because what is on the outside is a small part of who a person is.” As there can be some truth to it, it is mostly belief from a subjective perspective.
